From the NASB

Matthew 14:14

When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.

Mat 14:15

When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.

Mat 14:16

But Jesus said to them, They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!

Mat 14:17

They *said to Him, We have here only five loaves and two fish.

Mat 14:18

And He said, Bring them here to Me.

Mat 14:19

Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,

Mat 14:20

and they all ate and were satisfied. They picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve full baskets.

Mat 14:21

There were about five thousand men who ate, besides women and children.

Mat 14:22

Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away.

Mat 14:23

After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.

Mat 14:24

But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary.

Mat 14:25

And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea.

Mat 14:26

When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, It is a ghost! And they cried out in fear.

Mat 14:27

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.

Mat 14:28

Peter said to Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.

Mat 14:29

And He said, Come! And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

Mat 14:30

But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me!

Mat 14:31

Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, You of little faith, why did you doubt?

Mat 14:32

When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.

Matthew 14:33

And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, You are certainly Gods Son

Hello everyone,

Yes the truthseeker is at it one more time, to get you to THINK about what you have been told, and what you believe.

This section of the Scriptures has been taught many times over the years, almost every person teaching from this Scripture says, the reason Peter had begun to sink was that Peter had taken his eyes off of Messiah. IS this true, OR could there be another reason.

The REAL answer will not be found in most of the translations, but in the language the Word had been originally written in, namely the Greek language.

The reason why Peter had begun to sink is found in verses 27 - 31

Matthew 14: 26

Mat 14:33

And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, You are certainly Gods Son!

Lets discuss Messiahs answer to the disciples seeing him walking upon the water, verses 26 - 27

Let us also discuss Messiahs response to Peters request to be saved, verses 30 - 31

I looked at 28 translations and only 3 have a good understanding of verse 27.

Why did Peter begin to sink! Matthew 14 verses 14 - 33

Matthew 14:25-31: Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I, **DON'T BE AFRAID**." "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come,: Jesus said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, **HE WAS AFRAID** and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. "You of **LITTLE FAITH**," He said , "Why did you doubt?"

Jesus commanded Peter to walk on the water and **NOT TO BE AFRAID**. However, after Peter began to walk on the water he became **AFRAID** disobeying the command of Jesus: **NOT TO BE AFRAID**, and therefore sank and had **LITTLE FAITH**!

Another ridiculous quote by gracenotworkssaves:

"The English {Translation} denies the Deity of Messiah in this Scripture."{????}

Matthew 14:25-31: Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I, **DON'T BE AFRAID**." "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come," Jesus said.

However, after Peter began to walk on the water he became **AFRAID** disobeying the command of Jesus: **NOT TO BE AFRAID**, and therefore sank since he had **LITTLE FAITH** because Peter was **AFRAID**!!

Jesus showed His Deity by **WALKING ON WATER**!!

Jesus showed His Deity by allowing Peter to **WALK ON WATER** as long as he was **NOT AFRAID**!!

Jesus showed His Deityby catching Peter as he was sinking and bringing him back in the boat.

And then in Matthew 14:32 we read: And when they climbed in the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat **WORSHIPED HIM**, saying, "Truly you are the **SON OF GOD**!!"

Peter wanted to do all that Jesus did, to walk as Jesus walked on the water, Peter before born of God feared the Jews who wanted to kill Christ, after born again Peter cast the fear out, and this time they meet Him in the air..
