Will our physical body actually raise from the grave? Any thoughts from anyone?

Yes - however that gets a little interesting. Christ was ressurected in his glorified body, and I believe that what the Apostles saw was what we will expect.

His body contained all the markings from his death - he was unrecognized several times by people who knew him well, yet he was able to go through walls, and eat when he wanted to.

The scriptures also clearly say that the dead in Christ shall rise.

Sorry I don't have the scripture references right now; and I really,r eally gotta get to bed.

Hey Ian,

Yeah, that's the way I've always seen it, but someone made a statement to me the other day about our bodies going back to the dust, which is also stated in Scripture. I have always believed our bodies will rise because, like you said, Jesus rose and had all the physical markings from the Crusifiction.

Hmmm... "The dust shall rise from the graves...?"

Ya, it seems odd to me - I see their point, and obviously things are going to be different than we can envision, but I would think we are going to have some kind of glorified body.

I think our physical bodies go back to the dust, but we are raised in glorified bodies that can no longer get old, decay, get sick, etc. I think Jesus' markings from crucifixion were visible to show people he was who he said he was. I'm thinking we will not be raised with whatever markings we had at death - think of the people who have been disfigured in accidents, burn victims, people born without or having limbs taken from them - I do believe we will have a body, just not a body of flesh, blood, and bones like we do here. We'll have a perfect body.

Just my opinion - could very well be wrong. :)

Blessings!

Lynn

I've been reading in I Cor.chapter 15. I suppose it doesn't matter really, because we will be changed. Praise God!!!

There's a song we sing sometimes, "I'll have a new body, Praise the Lord, I'll have a new life".

Thanks Ian, Be Blessed, Sandy

I think your right about being raised with a glorified body. Thanks all for the response.

In the beginning, Adam and Eve were perfect in form. When they sinned, age, death and disease became part of the human condition. When Jesus comes to collect His redeemed from this earth, we will each have a perfect form Just like Adam and Eve before they fell. The only evidence of the old heaven and the old earth will be the scars on our Lord.
