Sunday 6/14/09 Pastor Alex�s sermon: Worship-The Next Step

A Quest for Worship:



*Worship is surrendering to God and bowing down to God. We are humbling ourselves and surrendering to His will not our will. This is not killing our will but choosing His will. We will His will.



*Praise is the intersection where theology meets worship*

We think God is great so we worship Him. We can be a thinker-think the Word, know the Word, have sound doctrine, be grounded in the Word. We can be a praiser-a worshipper that surrenders to God and just lets Him come upon us.

*Praise is also an outward expression of our love and worship of God*

Our personality is not an excuse for how we praise. If we have a quiet personality or a loud personality, this should not determine how we praise and worship God. We need to get a picture of how worship and praise is in Heaven and in scripture.



Revelations chap 4 & 5. Worshipping God in Heaven.

==They give Glory and Honor and Thanks to God vs. 4:9

==They give and there is Blessing and Honor and Glory and Power to Him that sits on the throne vs. 5:13



*Praise is the crossroad of theology and worship*

Jesus went after religious traditions-the Pharisees� ways. Jesus wanted to bust wide open man�s tradition of worship to God. Religion is the roadblock to true worship. We need to praise and worship God the way scripture and Jesus tells us to. Jesus says if we go to Him as children , He will help us, lead us, guide us unto truth. The Lord wants us to need Him, trust Him and come to Him so He can take care of us.

Psalm 95:1-7 Let us come to the Lord with Singing!

Let us come to the Lord with Praising!

Let us come to the Lord with a Holy Shout to God!



We need to enter into God�s Rest. Don�t be stressed out like the rest of the world. Vs 8. Don�t harden our hearts and don�t rebel against the Lord. We want our hearts to be right with God so we can enter into His Rest. Jesus said if we worship God we can enter into God�s Rest and not be stressed out. We won�t be worried about what will happen in the future because God IS Powerful and IS in control of all and He WILL take care of us�His Children!!



God wants us to have joy, enthusiasm, exuberation in our worship to Him. We have victory in our life and we can worship God the way He wants us to. We must remember that�

We All Have the Victory In Jesus!!!

and

We All Can Be Joyful and Enter Into God�s Rest!!
