Are girls beautiful, smart, funny, ..., worthy of affection?



I have noticed that many, MANY girls say on their profiles things like "I am beautiful, smart, funny, kind, unique, worthy of love and affection, never too much, always enough, I am precious, I am a diamond" and so on...



Yes I pray that God will grant me to be a very nice and loving Christian spouse one day.



If God grants me to get married again, I pray that I will be able to show my wife how much I'm glad she is my spouse, how much I am blessed to have her as a helper, as a very special gift of God.



But, I'm sorry, although this kind of "I am precious, I am a pearl..." feels nice, it often militates against God's Word.



Yes, I know most sincere girls won't really believe they are that perfect anyways, and this sometimes is quite clear from profiles, too.



So, don't get me wrong: I'm certainly not judging your hearts here, but if you partly think it's true you are "awesome" and so on, well, please ponder the Word of God.



I would recommend a youtube video on the subject that is entitled "Who You Are NOT: Every Woman Should Throw Up At This" It's from the LCMS, and I'm not LCMS (I'm close to the Reformation Lutheran Conference and like pastor Robert Dommer's sermons on Youtube) but I totally agree with what the pastor is saying in here.
