Knowing God's Will and Living a Life Pleasing To Him

I add here one of the great prayers for understanding God's will, found in Colossians.

1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease praying and asking on your behalf that you might be filled with the full-knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you might walk worthy of the Lord unto everything pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the full-knowledge of God; 11 being empowered with all power, according to the might of his glory, unto all endurance and patience; 12 with joy being thankful to the Father, who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:.



Paul desires that believers would be filled with a full knowledge and comprehension of the will of God. This is the first grade. We get the general picture of God's will. With this understanding we will be able to live lives pleasing to God. Paul uses four phrases to describe our lives. We will be producing fruit in every good work. As school-children, we will be increasing or growing in the further understanding of that will. God will be empowering us so that we show the character of endurance and patience. We will also show thankfulness with joy to God because he made us good enough so that we would share in the inheritance.
