"Pulling the plug" Update

Awhile back, I had a question about discontinuing life support for my mom who has cancer - if and when it came to that.

She has esophageal cancer and the only warning sign is difficulty swallowing - by this time, the cancer is usually widespread. The survival rate is less than 10%, and my mom's tumor was the size of a golf ball when they found it. It grew considerably and was even larger by the time they started radiation and chemo. She's in her late 70's and the outlook was very poor.

About two weeks ago, she went downhill and was hospitalized - her feeding tube was leaking, she was bleeding internally, she had become dehydrated, had mouth sores all over inside her mouth, and all over the outside of her mouth, too. Her blood count was way down, she was vomiting, and seriously looked like she was on her way out. I asked the doctor if we should call in family. He answered me with one word: "Huh?"

He told me she is doing really well - it's an aggressive cancer and therefore needs aggressive treatment. He told me everything that was happening to her was to be expected. And he also told me that he's now confident she will beat this. She will beat this. I couldn't believe my ears.

She's out of the hospital and home now. She's done with radiation (has two bouts of chemo left), the mouth sores are gone, her blood count is back to normal, she's puttering around the house, and calling me to make sure the windows are closed cause it looks like rain. She's mom again.

Thank you all for your prayers and I'm confident that I'll be making one more post to tell you the cancer is gone. It looks like the only plug I'll be pulling for her is the one on the lamp cause she'd rather have it on the other side of the room.

And some people don't believe in miracles.....

Again - WOW. Thanks for the update. That's gotta be rough to go through. My Dad was horribly sick for a year and a half before he passed away. Fortunately, he made the decision for us, and notified the doctors that he did not want to be resuscitated; He was saved, bought and paid for, so he knew where he was going.

Glad to hear your mom's doing so well.

PRAISE GOD! Linn, now this is what I was talking about in my post to you.... sometimes we need to be still and watch the salvation of the Lord, and if anyone pulls the plug, let it be God! and until He pulls it... yeah, you keeo pulling ONLY the plug on the lamp, and leave mom be... :applause::glow:

Praise God for His healing touch. He is awesome and never fails to prove Himself faithful.

Hang in there Linn:yay::dancingp:
