"And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourns among you... It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute FOR EVER." (Leviticus 16:29, 31)
For those who celebrate it by the moon !
Shalom !
Biblical Passages which mention The Day of Atonement
I just celebrated Yom Kippur for the first time; and I celebrated it with a wonderful woman who I met on this site.
Glory to YHWH!
I realized that YHWH commanded his children to celebrate Passover for all generations; but until recently, I didn't realize that we are to keep all of his feasts, for all generations. I have much to learn about honoring his will.
Surely Christ represents all of these atonements and rituals.
I think Hebrews (in particular chapter 9) puts it best.
He 9:1-10 talks of the kind of rituals you are expounding
Now, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you don't sacrifice animals on Yom Kippur, I'm merely suggesting that whatever you do on that day is of non effect as to your salvation as far as I can tell.
I doubt it displeases God, and if you want to do it, fine, but I'd hope you wouldn't try to argue that it's a Christian necessity :-/
For instance, though I was only born again in January and am not sure how I truly feel about it yet, I think that I will probably celebrate Christmas. I think I'd like to recognise the day Jesus was born, but I also recognise it isn't exactly specifically presented as a necessity.
In fact Easter is probably more important or even Pentacost (though less for the original meaning but because it was when Christ first sent his Holy Spirit to us)
Anyway I wouldn't wish to deceive anyone into thinking they have to celebrate or recognise any of these times to be assured salvation.
Unless I'm mistaken really the only 'ritual' if you like of this sort which Christ commanded was the 'The Lords Supper' of Mt 26:26-28, Mk 13:22-24 and Lk 22:19-20, which he did not specify as to when we do it, so I've always thought, any time and as many times as we can!
Sorry if this was not your intent!
Be blessed and may the glory of Christ shine your way!

Daniel 7:25 - New Living Translation
He (the False Messiah) will defy the Most High and oppress the holy people of the Most High. He will try to change their sacred festivals and The Laws of YAHWEH
Isaiah 1
14 Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. 15 When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening Your hands are full of blood
Jeremiah 10:2-4King James Version (KJV)
2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
The Messiah was not born on Christmas; and he was not resurrected on the day of the fertility goddess Ishtar.

This Lords supper that you speak of has a name. It's called passover. Yahweh clearly declared when it was to be celebrated.
See Exodus 12.
Excerpt:
Exodus 12:14 King James Bible
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to YHWH throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
I thank you for your fellowship in the name of the Most High Lamb of God, who took our sins and our transgressions of his divine law away with his own life blood; and to whom we are so grateful for the privilege of being given new hearts to not want to sin any more and new spirits so that we can dwell with him and in him at the right hand of our father in the new Jerusalem, amen!
I thank you for presenting me with the opportunity to study the Word of God together, with his Spirit in us, in an attempt to understand his will for us all as we abide both in the world but not of the world(Jn 17:14) as well as in his glorious body; as both co heirs of his promise to Abraham(Ga 3:29) being as we are sent into the world by Jesus(Jn 17:18)
As we know Brother and Sister, we are dead unto sin and alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord(Col 2:12; Ga 2:20) and we also know that anything we may do in the lives which we live by our faith of Jesus, cannot justify us(Ro 3:20). We know that when we repented of our sins, gave our lives to Jesus and asked him to dwell in us; he gave us a new heart(Ez 18:31) in which he declared us to be his epistles(2Co 3:3), and his Holy Spirit(1Co 3:16). We know that he made us new creations(2Co 5:17)
We know that those people who are still in the world and partakers and lovers of things in the world; are not of God(1Jn 2:15,16). And we know that those who have not accepted Christ and still rely on their own good works are not saved by God and are still in the world; making sacrifices to idols for there own vanity instead of putting their faith in the work already done by Christ(Col2:20-23).
Brother and Sister, we must know that the ordinances set up by the Lord of Hosts in generations past are not relevant, not because they are from a long time ago, neither because they are unimportant for us to consider in our lives; but because our Lord Jesus has removed our sin from our lives once and for all time! Why would God give his only begotten son, as a sacrifice for our sins, only for us to try to make atonement for those sins once a year with our own sacrifices?
Brother and Sister, do you not realise that when God ordains Israel to these festivals 'forever' he does so knowing that they are still alive unto their sin. We however are dead unto our sin and alive unto God the Father through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that is why these ordinances apply no longer to us. Though it is important for us to know that they exist, so that we know what a great, awesome, and unfathomable honour it it that we have remission of our sins through the blood of the sinless Lamb of God; so that we know what an incredible privilege it is to be able to walk with our Lord Jesus who already at this moment sits at the right hand of our Father in Heaven, despite having sin in our flesh, but knowing that we are renewed and born again in the spirit.
All Love and Blessings in the name of the worthy Son of God, Jesus Christ of Nazareth! Hallelujah!
Did you read any of my post and are you going to explain what the scripture you post actually means?
Are you not aware that when God created man there was only one commandment in the law, which was do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good or evil, and that for every passing generation our Lord Yahweh has had need of adding more and more commends to the law until finally in the time he came in the flesh as Jesus, the Pharisees and Sadducees were so overrun with laws that they had forgotten the whole point of the laws in the first place. Which was to condemn us of our sin.
If you truly accept what Jesus has done is final in your lives, you have no need of these once essential ordinances. The Lord only wishes you to come into the world as a new creation and save souls for him, your new heart will show you the right and wrong way to live, and the blood of Christ is sufficient to forgive you when you make a mistake or when you are unaware of a sin. Just pray that God show you where there is sin in your life and he will show you, like he showed Israel where it's sin was in Joshua chapter 7.
You need to trust Jesus, how much use can a day of atonement be with the blood of Jesus covering you my brethren?
If you have no words of your own to say and just passages of scripture it's hard to discuss this with you though!
The word of God is awesome, but it does need to be interpreted!
Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of your Elohim which I command you.
