The Bible seems to have different ideas about male female relationships and as it is written,
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Gen. 2:18
1 Cor 7:1 Concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman.
1 Corinthians 11:7b-9. Woman is the glory of man. 8 for man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9 nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.
No, woman was taken from the side of the first human. Adam means human. The man is the rest of the first human, they both together are fully human.
They were seperated to not be alone, as two is better than one, and two of the same do not relate with one another, because they can not gain anything new, so He created two different beings: man and woman.
It is not meant like the woman was made as an object for the man to use, she was made for the sake of man, and man is here for the sake of woman, they need one another.
When Paul writes to not touch a woman, he explains that we have all we really need in Jesus Christ, God can fill up the part in our lives that a partner woul fill, and He fills up even more.
But there is still nothing wrong with having a partner, as Paul writes, it is better to have a artner than doing porneia, which is in the bible not referring to anything sexual, but to idolatrousness, just look in the OT in which relation the word fornication is used.
With a God fearing partner, we can be held close to Him when we are strong, but without we can get lost and it is a long and hard way back.
Jesus says that some are made for marriage and some are not, so some can live without a spaouse, like St. Paul, and some live with a Spouse, like St. Peter.
dear homer, no one said anything about a woman was made for a man to use or abuse here. she was made to be HIS helper ,she was made to help man. that dont change that she was made from man for man. theres nothing deragatory about it. its just the way it is written.
genesis 2:18 And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him."
1 Corinthians 11:7-9 7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9 Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.
as for the other ,here we can see why GOD says for a man to have his own wife and each woman to have her own husband. even though paul says he wished all could be like him and be single..
1 corinthians 7: 1 - 3 1 Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me:
It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.
1 corinthians 7:7-9 7 For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.
8 But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; 9 but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
I believe that very few people are called to not be married. I agree that we are not meant to be alone but always we should be Christ centered. Marriage has more aspects in the spiritual realm than the physical. Two in unity are more powerful in prayer and warfare than one.
It is the hardest part to understand the bible, maybe after adam and eve fell into sin, everything turned into chaos and unclear and darkness, maybe that is why women and men r suffering now and still find no clue?......
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Gen 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
Gen 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
We read about two different creatures, man and woman, where the man is formed of the dust of the ground and the woman from already formed and alive Adam's rib.
It means initial and secondary creation, woman created from man and for the man to be a "help meet" for him.
Adam, was the creature to whom God commanded
Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
We assume that Adam informed Eve about.
The sin
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
1. The serpent said the truth due to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, though both realized immediately the knowledge of evil and got dressed. Sure they didn't die the physical death in the day they ate, but they became mentally dead out of God's blessings.
2. The innovating woman lied saying
Gen 3:13 ...... The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
though she
Gen 3:6 ...... saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
3. Adam's sin was to hear unto the voice of his wife violating God's command.
Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
4. Both missed to eat of the tree of life and expelled from the Paradise for not to eat of the tree of life and live for ever. Sinners should die until Jesus pay the ransom of sin.
Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
From then on, people pay tribute more to Knowledge than to Life.
