Great Faith the Roman Centurion of Capernaum and the Women of Canaan.
1. What do they have in common ?
2. Why do they have such great faith ?
Matthew 8:5-10 ~ The Roman Centurion of Capernaum
5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
Matthew 15:22-28 ~ The Canaanite women
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Neither was Israeli, both were persistent, both come to Christ on behalf of someone else, both knew He could heal the distant grievous with His word. All are in common and show great faith.
Im guessing this is just the obvious answers, I await the real teaching.
Guess I better answer before it rolls off the fornt page...
Hi Fly :waving:...You shared ~ Neither was Israeli, both were persistent, both come to Christ on behalf of someone else, both knew He could heal the distant grievous with His word. All are in common and show great faith.
*** BINGO!!!!...:yay:...

*** The real teaching is in your in answer !!!...Awsum!!!...
Since neither knew not the Torah (teachings) which we call lawthey had nothing to compare anything to and were not aware of a Messiah prophecyyetThey "Knew of Yahshua and Believed in Him"...GREAT FAITH !!!
The obvious, now what is obvious about the centurion, and the canaanite woman,HMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Could it be that both the centurion and the canaanite woman saw themselves as UNWORTHY ,yet each one knew Yesuha had the power to heal.
The centurion understood what it was like being in a position of authority,he himself was under authority, and he understood the power and authority of words ( but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed).
The canaanite woman knew she was helpless to help her daughter, she knew Yeshua to being the Messiah,as she calls Him according to the Old Covenant name of the Messiah,Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is badly demon-possessed.
The canaanite woman saw herself from the veiwpoint of others ( being Jews)that she was only a dog (unclean);Yet she comes and WORSHIPS,Messiah ( she prostrates herself like a dog at the feet of Yeshua;this is what WORSHIP means,to lick the masters hand like a dog). She says even ( i a dog) the dogs eat from their masters table.Even the dogs benefit from what their masters throw away.
The Jews would throw away Yeshua, and she would take Messiah as her own.
The canaanite woman knew Yeshua had the power to heal her daughter,Yeshua reveals Himself to the Centurion, and the canaanite woman being Yehowah Rapha, GOD that heals you.
Faith in Yesuha believes for healing, and other needs for people other then themselves.
Blessings

When the canaanite woman called herself a dog,we need to remember that women were considered no higher than a slave.
There are places in this life where a women is still considered no higher then a slave.
When Yesuha says in verse 28 WOMAN,He was raising her to a position of honour.
You've come a long way baby.

I believe George you got the same answer about the "Faith"...however...it isnt about a man verses a women in Faith or a womens standing in life...thats just reading into scripture something that isnt there...
I believe you left this for me,yet you did not understand my reply, too bad.
