One Christian Palestinian pastor said (translation):
Preaching about prosperity: sneaky and deadly ............. John Piper.
It is disingenuous because when Christ called us said: "So likewise, whoever of you does not leave all his money, he can not be my disciple" (Luke 14:33). It is deadly and because of that desire to be rich sink "people into ruin and destruction" (1 Timothy 6: 9) .. When I read about churches that preach about prosperity, my answer is: If this is the message of Christ, thank you do not want.
Versavia,prosperity in the Word of GOD is good,yet what kind of prosperity are the people hearing.
Are the people hearing GOD will make me healthy, wealthy and wise,OR can there be different meanings to the word 'prosperity' within the languages,other then just being about 'money'.
Many people are being lured into these buildings hearing about health,wealth,and financial blessings;When these 'blessings' do not come forth people either are told they have no faith to believe GOD for blessings,OR they have sin in theirs lives which stop GOD from blessing the people.
The body of Yeshua needs to hear the complete message of faith,that those which live godly will be persecuted.
Mat 5: 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
John 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not from us;
2Co 4:8 in every way being troubled, not being hemmed in; being perplexed, but not utterly at a loss;
2Co 4:9 being persecuted, but not being forsaken; being thrown down, but not having been destroyed;
There is no Prosperity Gospel in the Holy Bible...Prosperity is the Blessings of God...nothing more nothing less...search the Scriptures for ALL God's Blessings...do as HE says and you shall be Blessed beyond Measure...xo
Guys, MEDITATE on the words of God and NOT what people teach you in churches!
Because as we know there are many false teachers even in our churches!
Our God JESUS says:
"So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
Luke 14:33
Luke 6:24-25
But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.
Matthew 19:21
Matthew 6:19-21
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Luke 12:15
And he said to them, Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
Matthew 16:26
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Luke 16:19-31
There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
Acts 2:45
They (CHRISTIANS!!!):angel: sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
Acts 4:34
that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales
Its not a sin that a person has money but if the money is LOVED more than Christ and serving Christ then it creates big problems. He is saying that its easier to walk in faith when you have little because those with less rely on Christ more
Its true that Jesus told the rich young ruler to give up his wealth and follow Him ( Mark 10:21 ). On another occasion, Jesus said, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God 1 ( Mark 10:25 ).
On other occasions, Jesus didnt rebuke friends who owned property or command them to sell their homes and businesses. In fact, He often ate with people and stayed at their homes. Friends like Mary and Martha or Zacchaeus the publican were clearly not among the poor. He was even buried in the newly excavated tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy member of the Sanhedrin.
So why, then, did Jesus set up what seems to be such a stringent requirement for this particular young man? ( Matthew 19:16-22; Mark 10:17-31; Luke 18:18-30 ).
Jesus knew the young mans heart. He knew that he was looking for a way to earn his salvation on his own terms.
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Matthew 6:19
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
What really matters is the purpose that possessions and money play in our lives. Are we looking to possessions for the meaning and security in our lives, or are we looking at them as blessings that can help us fulfill our role in Gods kingdom?
Its important to read scripture in the context it is written. I find we can err when we pick and choose scripture without studying the surrounding scriptures for the correct context of meaning.
No, I am not a fan of the prosperity churches these days! They are in direct conflict with Gods word! Period.
Proverbs 30:8
Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
Philippians 4:11
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
