Jesus's Face

I've been told that making an image of Jesus or God is wrong. I haven't studied much on the subject, but I do remember certain things.

1. Older movies didn't show Jesus's face or, to my knowledge, any physical aspect of God.

2. As none of us have seen Jesus, would it be right of us to form what we think he looks like?

3. Early Christians used symbols, like the Cross, to identify themselves to other Christians, but the cross isn't to be treated as if it holds magical properties.

4. The picture of "God" touching the hand of Adam--was it?--or man, originally angered the church leaders, but under threat that the painting would not be finished if the painter was forced to remove it, they consented.

1. Does the Bible support this?

2. If we can't, why? Is it to prevent idol worship? Racism? (I do believe the Bible brings up and uses races for examples of the spirit, not to prevent interracial marriage.) Or preventing ideal characteristics in a man? Or to prevent people from assuming that physical beauty means spiritual beauty?
