I have heard for many years in the church that the Bible says �fear not� 365 times�..one time for every day of the year. In 30 years of preaching I probably said it without checking it out because it was just a cool thought. Well here�s the real story, I did check it out�.it�s not there 365 times! Not even close to 365. But does it really matter?
Think of it this way�..
If God , WHO CANNOT LIE, said it ONCE, THAT�S ENOUGH!
If God tells me to FEAR NOT in just one verse I believe it and don�t need it 364 other times.
King James Version: 63 � fear not; 26 � be not afraid
New American Standard Bible: 4 � fear not; 57 � do not fear; 46 � do not be afraid
This information does not shake our faith�.or at least you better not let it. It�s just a cute saying. But we as believers aren�t into cute we are into truth.
Trust me, I�m not trying to be the Bible police. I just heard this said in �FACING THE GIANTS� and thought �wow, that is so cool�. So I decided to check it out not to prove them wrong and find only 300 but just so I can have it in my repertoire of weapons. Honestly, after my searching it DID NOT shake my faith, it really strengthened it to say ONCE IS ENOUGH.
At the very best the word for Fear, in all of it�s forms, is only listed 314 times in the original languages which includes words that have been translated into words such as terrible, dreadful, reverence, and terrible acts. As for the different translations here is what we have��
NKJV 129, NIV 66, NASB 127, ASV 148, DBY 155, HNV 44, NLT 38, ESV 137, RSV 139, YNG 115, WEB 144
HERE�S THE FACT��IF IT WAS THERE ONCE, THAT�S ALL WE NEED TO NOT FEAR AGAIN.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. xo
