The End Time Threshing Floor of Jeremiah 51: 33
"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." Revelation 18: 4
"Her" is Babylon.
Then Revelation 18: 33 explains why God calls those who are his people out of Babylon. "And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived."
Since the light of a candle is said to shine no more in Babylon, and the voice of the bridegroom and the bride shall be heard no more in it, this indicates that at one time in history the light of Christ did shine and his voice and that of his people were heard.
The church in Babylon has another Jesus and another Gospel. The voice of the real Jesus and his followers is not heard in Babylon, though the deceived members think they have been taught the real Jesus and the real Gospel.
"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."
II Corinthians 11: 4-5
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Galatians 1: 8
Before the falling away of II Thessalonians 2: 3-4 the light of Christ shined and his voice and that of his people were heard, not in Babylon, which is a metaphoric concept for being in false doctrines, but before the church went into the second Babylonian captivity. This second captivity in Babylon is not a literal one, but a captivity to false doctrines. God has given those in false doctrines over to their doctrines.
"Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;" Ezekiel 14: 4
God said he will answer those who put stumbling blocks before them according to their stumbling blocks. Likewise, God in II Thessalonians 2: 10-11 says he will send strong delusion, a working of error, upon those who have not received the love of the truth, that they might be saved. He will give them over to their false doctrines as judgment.
"Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place." Isaiah 28: 17
Judgment by God at some point comes upon those in false doctrines.
First, those in false doctrines and those who have come to the knowledge of the truth are separated from one another.
This is what Jeremiah 51: 33 is about, the separation of the elect from the unsaved.
"For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come." Jeremiah 51: 33
A small number is to help in this separation of those who have the truth from those who do not have it. "And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
34.Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
35. And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed." Daniel 11: 33-35
Those who do not want those who understand to instruct many will not be able to defeat them on a spiritual level and may then oppose them on the level of the flesh.
Some in Babylon will respond to the testimony of the small number, and some will reject it.
"And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent......And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." Revelation 12: 14, 17.
The identity of the woman in this metaphoric teaching is not the central message. She can be Israel reborn in Christ. The important message is that the remnant is outside of Babylon in the metaphoric wilderness where they have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Christ, though only in spirit, is out there with the remnant, and not in Babylon.
The remnant does not threaten the II Timothy 3: 5-8 church in Babylon as long as
it is not having an influence on some members of that church. In fact, the church
in Babylon is not aware there could be such a thing as a remnant. As long
as the remnant people communicate only with one another, it does not
threaten the church in Babylon very much, since most of the remnant Christians are
not inside the church, but outside in the metaphoric wilderness. So, for the church the remnant does not exist.
.
But if the remnant becomes more anointed in the truth, are
without guile (deception) and follow the Lamb wherever he leads, know
the scriptures better, and begin to communicate more with members of
the church in Babylon, then it is a threat. At that
point the two groups will be more polarized and the two polarities
will clash in the end time spiritual conflict. Thats the threshing floor
of Jeremiah 51: 33.
