I know I am not the only one DISGUSTED by this!!!

You know, its as Jesus and Paul has forewarned us, " The last days are and will be perilous times. When men/women will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, and becasue of their itching ears will take heed to those teachers who prevert the word of God to suit thier own fancy and understandings...
Here you have it! So very sad... therefore, we shouldn't be too surprised... after all ,we are living in the LAST DAYS children, before Christ returns!

oh, I wasn't justifying it, I don't even know what paraphrase it is, probably done by a liberal who was more focused on sounding good, and very basic while missing essential doctrine.
Usually when these conversations go, they tend to become a bash-fest for everything not kjv, because one paraphrase is really bad all of them are. The key thing is context, when you are comparing, you can do verse to verse, but sometimes you need to broaden the scope, and do chapter by chapter even.
Another thing to consider for paraphrases is where it was written, culturally words can mean different things. like when Jesus says "Truly, Truly I say to you..." here average Joe thinks he's stuttering, he doesn't understand the emphasizing of words by repeating them 2 or three times.
You can also run into the problem with languages that don't have a huge word list, like some tribes in Africa, when the bible says "...white as snow..." they have no sweet clue what snow is nor even a word for it. You have to paraphrase it.
