12 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 Son of man, you live in the midst of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see but do not see, ears to hear but do not hear; for they are a rebellious house. 3 Therefore, son of man, prepare for yourself baggage for exile and go into exile by day in their sight; even go into exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will [a]understand though they are a rebellious house. 4 Bring your baggage out by day in their sight, as baggage for exile. Then you will go out at evening in their sight, as those going into exile. 5 Dig a hole through the wall in their sight and [b]go out through it. 6 Load the baggage on your shoulder in their sight and carry it out in the dark. You shall cover your face so that you cannot see the land, for I have set you as a sign to the house of Israel.

11 The Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, seeking from Him a [h]sign from heaven, [i]to test Him. 12 Sighing deeply [j]in His spirit, He *said, Why does this generation seek for a [k]sign? Truly I say to you, [l]no [m]sign will be given to this generation. 13 Leaving them, He again embarked and went away to the other side.
14 And they had forgotten to take bread, and did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them. 15 And He was giving orders to them, saying, Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod. 16 They began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread. 17 And Jesus, aware of this, *said to them, Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a [n]hardened heart? 18 Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember, 19 when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up? They *said to Him, Twelve. 20 When I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up? And they *said to Him, Seven. 21 And He was saying to them, Do you not yet understand?

23 When they had set a day for Paul, they came to him at his lodging in large numbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening. 24 Some were being persuaded by the things spoken, but others would not believe. 25 And when they did not agree with one another, they began leaving after Paul had spoken one parting word, The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers, 26 saying,
Go to this people and say,
[s]You will keep on hearing, [t]but will not understand;
And [u]you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;
27 For the heart of this people has become dull,
And with their ears they scarcely hear,
And they have closed their eyes;
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart and return,
And I would heal them.
28 Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen. 29 [[v]When he had spoken these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves.]

11 I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, [a]a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel? 3 Lord, they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life. 4 But what [b]is the divine response to him? I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal. 5 In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to Gods [c]gracious choice. 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer [d]on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.
7 What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but [e]those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened; 8 just as it is written,
God gave them a spirit of stupor,
Eyes to see not and ears to hear not,
Down to this very day.
9 And David says,
Let their table become a snare and a trap,
And a stumbling block and a retribution to them.
10 Let their eyes be darkened to see not,
And bend their backs forever.
11 I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous. 12 Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their [f]fulfillment be! 13 But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, 14 if somehow I might move to jealousy my [g]fellow countrymen and save some of them. 15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16 If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too.

Jerusalems Godlessness
5 Roam to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem,
And look now and take note.
And seek in her open squares,
If you can find a man,
If there is one who does justice, who seeks [a]truth,
Then I will pardon her.
2 And although they say, As the Lord lives,
Surely they swear falsely.
3 O Lord, do not Your eyes look for [b]truth?
You have smitten them,
But they did not [c]weaken;
You have consumed them,
But they refused to take correction.
They have made their faces harder than rock;
They have refused to repent.
4 Then I said, They are only the poor,
They are foolish;
For they do not know the way of the Lord
Or the ordinance of their God.
5 I will go to the great
And will speak to them,
For they know the way of the Lord
And the ordinance of their God.
But they too, with one accord, have broken the yoke
And burst the bonds.
6 Therefore a lion from the forest will slay them,
A wolf of the deserts will destroy them,
A leopard is watching their cities.
Everyone who goes out of them will be torn in pieces,
Because their transgressions are many,
Their apostasies are numerous.
7 Why should I pardon you?
Your sons have forsaken Me
And sworn by those who are not gods.
When I had fed them to the full,
They committed adultery
And trooped to the harlots house.
8 They were well-fed lusty horses,
Each one neighing after his neighbors wife.
9 Shall I not punish [d]these people, declares the Lord,
And on a nation such as this
Shall I not avenge Myself?
10 Go up through her vine rows and destroy,
But do not execute a complete destruction;
Strip away her branches,
For they are not the Lords.
11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah
Have dealt very treacherously with Me, declares the Lord.
12 They have lied about the Lord
And said, [e]Not He;
Misfortune will not come on us,
And we will not see sword or famine.
13 The prophets are as wind,
And the word is not in them.
Thus it will be done to them!
Judgment Proclaimed
14 Therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of hosts,
Because you have spoken this word,
Behold, I am making My words in your mouth fire
And this people wood, and it will consume them.
15 Behold, I am bringing a nation against you from afar, O house of Israel, declares the Lord.
It is an enduring nation,
It is an ancient nation,
A nation whose language you do not know,
Nor can you understand what they say.
16 Their quiver is like an open grave,
All of them are mighty men.
17 They will devour your harvest and your food;
They will devour your sons and your daughters;
They will devour your flocks and your herds;
They will devour your vines and your fig trees;
They will demolish with the sword your fortified cities in which you trust.
18 Yet even in those days, declares the Lord, I will not make you a complete destruction. 19 It shall come about when [f]they say, Why has the Lord our God done all these things to us? then you shall say to them, As you have forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
20 Declare this in the house of Jacob
And proclaim it in Judah, saying,
21 Now hear this, O foolish and [g]senseless people,
Who have eyes but do not see;
Who have ears but do not hear.
22 Do you not fear Me? declares the Lord.
Do you not tremble in My presence?
For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea,
An eternal decree, so it cannot cross over it.
Though the waves toss, yet they cannot prevail;
Though they roar, yet they cannot cross over it.
23 But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart;
They have turned aside and departed.
24 They do not say in their heart,
Let us now fear the Lord our God,
Who gives rain in its season,
Both the autumn rain and the spring rain,
Who keeps for us
The appointed weeks of the harvest.
25 Your iniquities have turned these away,
And your sins have withheld good from you.
26 For wicked men are found among My people,
They watch like fowlers [h]lying in wait;
They set a trap,
They catch men.
27 Like a cage full of birds,
So their houses are full of deceit;
Therefore they have become great and rich.
28 They are fat, they are sleek,
They also [i]excel in deeds of wickedness;
They do not plead the cause,
The cause of the [j]orphan, that they may prosper;
And they do not [k]defend the rights of the poor.
29 Shall I not punish [l]these people? declares the Lord,
On a nation such as this
Shall I not avenge Myself?
30 An appalling and horrible thing
Has happened in the land:
31 The prophets prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule [m]on their own authority;
And My people love it so!
But what will you do at the end of it?
