King James Version of Matthew chapter 7:21-23

King James Version Translation of Matthew chapter 7:21-23

7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven

22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Me

I have tried to find a viable website to post this, yet every one of those sites has the same translation as that which ella has posted, yet these translaltions are wrong, wrong, wrong.

Biblos.com has the correct understanding, yet to copy and post this would make it hard for others to see the problem the translations have..

I would like everyone to go to biblos.com

Look up Matthew 7.

Click onto the interlinear

Scroll to verse 21 and beging reading rthe Greek text.

Here are the English translations.

Matthew 7:22

(KJV) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

(KJV+) ManyG4183 will sayG2046 to meG3427 inG1722 thatG1565 day,G2250 Lord,G2962 Lord,G2962 have we notG3756 prophesiedG4395 in thyG4674 name?G3686 andG2532 in thyG4674 nameG3686 have cast outG1544 devils?G1140 andG2532 in thyG4674 nameG3686 doneG4160 manyG4183 wonderful works?G1411

(LITV) Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power?

(YLT) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many mighty things?

The Greek actually says this.

Lord,Lord Not in your name did we prophesy, and(not) in your name demons cast out,and (not) in your name works of power many we performed.

The word (not) in the parenthesis is implied.

Please look this up,for Yeshuas reply,is one that should have people questioning whether the things they are doing are of YHWH or not.

Shalom

You caught us man, we are all satan worshipers and we didnt know it! good griefe its about your heart thats what it means when the bible says that people will be decieved , its becasue they think they are ok becsaue of the stuff they did but their heart wsnt right! If you love JESUS AND YOU BELIEVE IN HIM TO SAVE YOU AND YOU HAVE GODLY SORROW UNTO REPENTENCE AND ASK HIM TO FORGIVE YOU AND TURN FROM YOUR SIN THEN YOU ARE SAVED!! why is that so hard to grasp! God does not want us to be tricked like your acting, you act like if you have to be a scholar to get saved, let me tell you I AM SAVED! I LOVE JESUS AND THATS THE WAY! I love him so I try not to sin and I am spirit filled so that helps me not to , He guids me and nuges me when I am about to slip up, sometimes my own flesh gets involved and I mess up but my heart is right so I am saved

George, this pasage says the same in the Greek as it does in the English translation.

The word OU in the Greek mean no, or not. OU is used as NOT in the English translations... but it can also use NO since No also means not... therefore, in response to what Jesus said... they will answer to affirm that they have done good works by saying... "NO, Lord, Lord, in your name we have prophesied, and in Your name cast out demons... it still means the same as in the King James and other translations from the Greek to the English...

Matthew 7:22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' (NASB: Lockman)

Greek: polloi erousin (3PFAI) moi en ekeine te hemera, Kurie kurie, OU to so onomati epropheteusamen, (1PAAI) kai to so onomati daimonia exebalomen, kai to so onomati dunameis pollas epoiesamen? (1PAAI)

Amplified: Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? (Amplified Bible - Lockman)

KJV: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

NLT: On judgment day many will tell me, `Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name. (NLT - Tyndale House)

Phillips: In 'that day' many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we preach in your name, didn't we cast out devils in your name, and do many great things in your name?' (New Testament in Modern English)

Wuest: Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not in your Name prophesy, and in your Name cast out demons, and in your Name perform many miracles which demonstrated the power of God? (Eerdmans)

Young's: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many mighty things?

@ella:

The translators have turned this into a question, where no question is to be.

biblos.com and The interlinear Bible volume 4 have translated this rightly, the others have not.

When Yeshua says 'I never knew you'.

He says,i have never known you from eternity past,I do not know you now,and I will not know you throughout eternity future.

Who tied your hair so tight, grab some breath.

Boy are you sure are defensive..

It is probably the conviction of the Holy Spirit,

Or you do not want 'ANYONE' to be having a right understand of the Word of YHWH.

George, whether a question or an affirmation, the passage still says and means the same... your beef is with yourself in not spiritually understanding that which you are trying to correct!...
