Probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), that is, (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred, or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specifically) a human being (as such): - carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]).

A simple illustration of being carnally minded, is allowing what the bible defines as the flesh and your mind to rule over you, the spirit man.

The mind of man and his flesh are not to influence the Spirit of man in matters of the spirit, man's mind as well as his flesh should always be in the dominion of man's heart or spirit.

When an individual is born again only the spirit of man is new, the mind and the flesh are just as they where before the new birth.

I believe it is best said as this:

Man is a Spirit and with his spirit he contacts and inter acts with the spiritual realm.

The spirit man has a soul ( the mind, will, emotions) and with e soul man contacts the intellectual realm.

Man has a body and with that body he contacts the things of this world, this is commonly refereed to as the flesh, the body governed by the senses and as you walk in these truths you will learn that the soul and body will interact together against the spirit of man if we do not do as instructed in Romans 12:1,2 this is the beginning of growth to walking in the spirit.

The Spiritural man is to present his flesh, body as a living sacrifice.

The spiritual man is to renew his mind that the spiritual man and the mind of man will be transformed, that the spiritual man will learn first the good will of God then the acceptable will of God, and then the perfect will of God.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

If we Christians are not diligent in doing of this truth we will always be carnally minded and thus putting ourselves under the law of sin and death.

opps this is worded wrong:

The mind of man and his flesh are not to influence the Spirit of man in matters of the spirit, man's mind as well as his flesh should always be in the dominion of man's heart or spirit.

It would have been better said man's mind and body, should be under the dominion of Man's Spirit.

Newness of Life

What shall we say then? Shall we eontinue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6 chpter

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unot thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unot thee, Ye must be born again.

John 3:5-7

For evil doers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord shall inherit the earth.
