The book of Revelation was written by the apostle John during his exile on the island of Patmos. John's purpose in writing this book was to give hope and encouragement to those Christians who were suffering severe persecution for their faith in Jesus Christ. These Christians needed to know that God controls whatever happens here on earth.
Through the imagery and symbols, even though they are sometimes diffult to understand, one thing is made clear, Jesus Christ is the Lord and ruler over everyone and everything-even powerful human governments. He is clearly in control and will someday judge and punish what is evil, even Satan. He will also establish and everlasting kingdom with a new heaven and a new earth.
Revelation 1:3: �Blessed:rolleyes: is the one who reads the Words of this Prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it!�
Revelation 3:14: Jesus says, �These are the Words of the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Ruler of God's creation!�:applause:
Revelation 22:9,10: The angel said to John, �I am a fellow servant with you:rolleyes: and your brothers the prophets and all who keep the Words of this Book!� Then he told me, �Do not seal up the Words of the Prophecy of this Book!�
Revelation 22:7,12,13,16,18,19: Jesus says, �Behold I am coming soon. Blessed is he who keeps the Words of the Prophecy in this Book...Behold, I am coming soon. My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done... I am the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End....I, Jesus have sent My angel to give *YOU {�You� here is Plural} this testimony {All of Revelation} **FOR THE CHURCHES**!!....
I warn everyone who hears the Words of the Prophecy of this Book: If anyone **ADDS** anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book {Including eternal Hell} And if any one **TAKES WORDS AWAY** from this Book of Prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the Tree of Life and in the Holy City {The New Jerusalem}, which are described in this Book!"
