All Religions Lead to God...

This is a common misconception because the fact is that Biblical Christianity is absolutely unique in comparison to every other religion and philosophy found in the world. In the first instance Christianity is not even a religion, rather it is a faith in a person, Jesus Christ. In fact Christianity is unique in many ways:

1.Only in the Bible do we find that God is revealed as the only true eternal, personal Creator of the universe and everything in it.

2. Christianity alone centres around the life and work of one person Jesus Christ his birth, death, resurrection and his second coming. Other religions base their beliefs on the teachings of individuals rather than their actions.

3. Only Jesus Christ has conquered death humankinds greatest fear. The founder of every religion in the world went to the grave and stayed there. Christs tomb is empty and His resurrection is the most proved fact in history! Only God Himself could have that power. Christ said: I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the father except through me. (John 14:6)

4. All other religions teach that we can earn our way into heaven by following rules and regulations. The Bible teaches that no person can earn their way into heaven because they are just not good enough.

5. Only Jesus Christ lived a perfect and sinless life because he was God incarnate (God with skin on). He then died for the sins of people, thus offering forgiveness to anyone who accepts Him by faith. This forgiveness is free and cannot be earned, a gift offered by no other religion in the world.

How do we differentiate between all the different cults and denominations?

It is no surprise that many people looking for the truth concerning life are put off because of the religious situation in our country today. Hundreds of denominations and sects and cults, new age movements, Eastern mysticism etc. Biblical Christianity universally judges false cults and denominations on the following three criteria: The Bible, Christ, and how to attain salvation.

Their attitude towards the Bible

The Bible claims time and again to be the Word of God, which is much different than it containing words about God. The former is the claim of true Christianity. Gods word is also final and complete so much so that the Bible ends with this warning to us:

I warn anyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. (Revelation 22:18, 19)

Now cultists are usually guilty of adding to the Word of God by suggesting that their leaders have more information than is found in the Bible and that the Bible does not contain all we need to know about God and what he expects from us.

Liberals, on the other hand, take away from the word of God by suggesting that some of it is not true and that it is only correct in part.

Their attitude towards Jesus Christ

True Christian teachers will proclaim that Jesus Christ is fully man, yet fully God. The Bible gives us a clear warning about this: Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist. (1 John 2:22)

Again in 2 John: 7 we are told: Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

Any person or religious group who deny Christs humanity, deity, virgin birth, sinless life, resurrection and ascension, should be rejected out of hand.

Their attitude towards salvation: Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us what we contribute to our salvation: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no-one can boast.

All false religions teach that we can earn our salvation by doing good deeds or by other means. Only true biblical Christianity teaches that all people are helplessly lost in their sin and can do nothing to get themselves to heaven. Eternal life is ours for free if we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ!

If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! (Galatians 1:9)

All religions do not lead to God: Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven, given to men, by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

Question...

A family is headed on a cruise. There is a 3 year old child in that family. The Cruise ship sinks and all aboard are lost except for that 3 year old child ( who manages to float to an island.).

Somehow that child survives and grows. It encounters no other human being...never hears The Word of God...never "answers" a Alter Call...never "recites" The Sinners Prayer.

This child develops a sense of "the Ocean is Creator" mentality or Religion (if you will).

The child dies without ever knowing about God.

Do you think God will Send that child To Hell (because it was not a Christian)?

Hate to be predictable, but the simple truth is that no extant religion is unique. All are based upon something that came into vogue previously. Christianity came out of Judaism, Judaism from a Babylonian religion (even basing Bereishit upon the Epic of Gilgamesh) and their's from something previous, and on n on to whatever goddess-based pagan religion. Only way anyone can claim Christianity is unique is if they insist the world is very young as many in both Christianity and Judaism try to.

"We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right." - George Orwell

Christians have been doing this very thing for a very long time, and those whose beliefs aren't threatened by naysayers have stepped foward and pointed it out long before this thread of mine.

I would think though that people would prefer to know the truth, wherever it might lead instead of a pretty lie. If you'd rather know the truth of it all, the truth is out there.

"The immediate religious context of Christianity was Judaism. Jesus, the apostles, and the earliest converts to Christianity were Jews and their teachings were presented in a Jewish context. The Judaism of Jesus' time was characterized by strict monotheism, a gradual shift from temple ritual to personal ethics, restlessness under foreign domination, a strong sense of community, and expectations of the coming of a messiah.

Christianity began as a movement within Judaism at a period when the Jews had long been under foreign influence and rule and had found in their religion (rather than in their politics or cultural achievements) the linchpin of their community. In Palestinian Judaism the predominant note was separation and exclusiveness." - http://www.religionfacts.com/christianity/history/context.htm

And for a nice neat little chart of the various major branches of Christianity:

http://www.religionfacts.com/christianity/charts/denominations_stats.htm

Note how none of them actually date back to Jesus' time.

Of course, I think everyone on some level knows these things so I certainly don't expect any insecure types to actually look at these things since you know already. Right?

"So long as they (the Proles) continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina, they had reverted to a style of life that appeared to be natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern...Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult." - George Orwell (1984)

You would be hard pressed to get Jesus to endorse any tag man puts on Christianity.

"Words do not express thoughts very well; every thing immediately becomes a little different, a little distorted, a little foolish. And yet it also pleases me and seems right that what is of value and wisdom of one man seems nonsense to another." Siddhartha Gautama (aka Buddha ~563-483 BC)

The Mahāpadāna Sutta and Acchariyaabbhuta Sutta both recount miraculous events surrounding Gautama's birth, such as the bodhisattva's descent from Tuṣita Heaven into his mother's womb.

Sound familar?

DLJ, you are so right, or Jesus said we shall know them by their fruits! If the church belivers are not prodcing fruits that represent the teachings of Jesus Christ, thne you best believe it is not the Church of our Lord. Even if their church doctrine might be slightly off in some areas, the basic foundation of a Christian church remains even in thier bylaws they are based upon scriptures.

I agree with you PJ...

Arc, I stand to be corrected if this is not your point ... I think you're asking about if when chilrden die do they go to heaven?... I will start another thread on this, but the answer is YES! they have not committed any sins although we are taught that we are born with a sin nature, but a child is innocent until he/she understands what sins (right & wrong, good & evil) bad and good) are all about... Romans chapter even let's us know that until we understand the laws of God we are innocent, because they points us to our sins. God says we will be judge according to the knowledge that we know about sin, with or without the law which is the WORD of God...

Jeff, I am impressed with your spirit, and knowledge of what you do know in much of God's word. However, carnal:laugh:. at least you can articulate what it is you believe with conviction... just keep in mind what I have spoken to you since you have joined this site, your salvation draws nigh:glow::yay:

Jeff, in response to your comment: We are told in the book of Acts chapter 11, that the Apostles were first called Christians in Antioch, because they were preaching and teaching the gospel about Christ, this is the association of the word Christian because it idenitifies believer in Jesus Chirst with Him.

The name Christianity was born out of the name Christian because this lets everybody know who and what we believe, that is based upon our faith, our hope in life, our being, our everything, and that our salvation is found ONLY in Jesus Chirst.

I think you quoted something by Orson Welles?... well, I 'll quote what Jesus says, " I AM the WAY, the TRUTH AND THE LIFE, and no man comes to the Father except through ME." (John clapter 14).

Therefore Christianity is not based upon what Orson welles or anyone else has to say, but it is based upon what Jesus speaks, did, and promises made to all who believe in Christ by God. And it is for you and your household as well...

Orson Welles was a non-believers, so there is not much stock in what he says or anyother nonbeliever has to say they speak carnal things they know not. And Welles as a non-beleiver, and based upon what Jesus says, I would only hope that he is in heaven with the Lord. But then again, there is no doubt that this is not possible, since he states in one article that I read about him some years back, and it is my undertanding that he did not believe in the institution of the church, and never really had many kind words to speak about knowing God or his faith in God. That there is doubt that he is in heaven. So what he seaks means nothing, nor does what others who are not practicing their faith in God carry any weight, that you have quoted. Again, Jesus say we will know tme by their fruit... if a person isn't or han;t shonw any fruit of knowing Jesus Chirst, thier tree is void and null...bear.

Again, Jesus say this, I AM come that they (YOU) might have life, and that they (YOU) might have it more abundantly (John chapter 10)

Christianity is unique becasue it takes something a simple as FAITH TO BELIEVE IN JESUS CHIRST TO RCEIVE total joy, the peace of God, and eternal life to live foreevr after our physical death on earth. It is the faith to believe that there is life eternally with Christ after death to die no more, this is the working or works of our faith ...ONLY BELIEVE.

Yes, The Old Testament Covenant along with what Christ did on the crose and His blood that was shed for the remission of our sins by His death, His birth, His ministry, His resurrection, and soon return... this makes us Chritsians if you have faith to believe.

Therefore, the Old and the New BOTH together formulate the New Testament Covenant and this is what gives believers authorization and revelation of what it is to be a Christian and what Christianity is all about. It is our idenity in Chirst as believers, and our faith in the gospel of Christ, this is that which makes fro the word Christianity...

oooooooooops!:excited::ROFL: Sorry, I thought you had quoted Orson Welles, but instead you quoted George Orwell:laugh:... you also quoted Budda... well quoting anything from Budda that's another thread:nahnah:... but is also of this thread becasue it is a cult who does not believe in true Christin beliefs.

Even so, Judiasim have basic Chritsian beliefs whether you know it or not,... you say you believe in God and TRY to keep His commandments whch you cant, but as I said, the Old and the New make up for the word Christianity... being that God is Jesus, and Jesus is God... Immanual which in Hebrew eans GOD WITH US incarnated.... so if you believe in God you also must believe in Jesus, you just don't understand the spiritual insights of knowing who God really is thorugh Jesus Christ.

There are many very evil Satanic sins that Satanic cults practice and teach; that no church of Jesus Christ would ever even consider such as:

Worshiping a human being or anyone other than our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Asking a human being to forgive your sins or praying to a human being or anyone other than our Heavenly Father as per Luke 11:2-4

Calling a human being a virgin and sinless when these are Satanic lies.

Bowing down to and kissing the ring of a human being and calling him the Holy Father.

Refusing to let your preachers be married like Peter and the Apostles.

Belief that a priest has the power to forgive sins by telling you to say a bunch of Hail Mary's.

Belief that a priest has the divine power to change wine or grape juice into the blood of Jesus Christ.

Belief that you are saved by works such as Baptismal Regeneration.

Belief that we do not have to obey and teach *ALL* the commands of Jesus as per Matt 28:20; I John 2:3-5 & John 14:23

Belief in the New Age Prosperity Gospel as per Benny Hinn and Joel Osteen.

Belief that women can preach to men in churches as per I Timothy 2:11,12 & I Cor 14:33,34

Belief that all 66 books of the Bible are not inspired by God and that we do not have to obey all the commands of the NEW COVENANT with LOVE just as Jesus loved us!

Churches that practice and teach the above are not Churches of Jesus Christ. They are churches of Satan.

Hebrews 8:8,9,13: God found fault with the people and said: The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a **NEW COVENANT** with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will **NOT** be like the covenant I made with their forefathers.....By calling this covenant **NEW**, He made the first one **OBSOLETE**; and what is **OBSOLETE** and aging will soon disappear. When all the words of the New Covenant were completed by the Book of Revelation in AD 96.

Hebrew 10:8-10: Jesus said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them although the law required them to be made. The He {Jesus} said. "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He {Jesus} set aside the first {Covenant} to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus ONCE FOR ALL!!

Isaiah 53:5,6: "But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. We all like sheep have gone astray, each of us turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all!!"
