The Bible is Infallible and inerrant? What do you mean?

When I say that the Bible is infallible and inerrant. I do not mean a

translation. A translation can be anything from terrible to

excellant. I believe that the NAS and the ESV are the most accurate

for modern

English speakers. I also use NKJV because I have a very good study

Bible in that translation. I like B.B. Warfields definition:

"Inspiration is that extraordinary, super-natural influence exerted

by the Holy Spirit on the writers of our sacred books, by which their

words were rendered also the words of God, and therefore, perfectly

infallible."

I also say that the Bible is true, that is to say, devoid of, and

incapable of teaching falsehood or error of any kind in all that it

tends to affirm. The Bible does not err in any of its affirmations.

whether those affirmations be in the spheres of spiritual realities

or morals, history or science, and is therefore incapable of teaching

error. Because the Bible is God's word, its assertions are as true

as if God spoke to man today directly from heaven.

When we say that the Bible is infallible and Inerrant we mean by

those two words no more and no less than what the Bible itself would

permit by its own claims to truthfulness and by its textual

phenomena. That is to say, we must not evaluate Scripture according

to standards of truth and error that are alien to its usage, or

purpose. Such phenomena as a lack of modern technical precision,

perceived irregularities of grammar and spelling, observational

descriptions of nature, the use of hyperbole and round numbers. the

topical arrangement of material, variant selections of material in

parallel accounts and the use of free citations should not be used as

arguments against the Scripture's inerrancy.

James,

Again, you state the Obvious. We as Christians Believe this and KNOW this to be Truth.

My Question to you and any Christian here is:

"How do you Prove this to a Non Christian?"

You are Wrapped in Circular Reasoning that a Non Believer can also use.

Can anyone here solve this dilemma?

Peace

James replies:

I wish that were true. There are plenty of Christians who have decided that Genesis must be read as an allegory, and not factual history.

There are plenty of Christians who will side with whatever scientists are saying at the moment, Like Darwinian evolution for example, even though they know it contradicts Scripture.

James replies:

Well, this another subject, but as you wish.........

Because of the Fall of Adam and Eve, ALL of mankind is born with a will enslaved to sin. Free will was lost in the Garden.

Because of that, no amount of proof or evidence will do anything towards getting a non-Christian to accept Jesus.

With a good education on the subject, it is possible to get a person to admit that Christianity has shaped and drastically improved western civilization. But that is about as far as you can go.

It takes God to save a person. Meaning that since all mankind are born totally spiritually dead, that God must make them come alive spiritually FIRST, and then they WILL repent and trust in Jesus.

In Christ,

James

I don't think we have to "prove" anything, because I don't think the power of logic or human reasoning works in the spiritual realm. Like the word says,I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 1 Cor 3:16

I think Prophetic said it good in another thread when we were discussing our conduct, conversation and behavior. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.1 Peter 1:23

So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Rom. 10:17

Nice article James as always, thanks for sharing:applause:

What amazes me is that there are those who will try to discredit what is written in the Bible as being from the mouth of God, and will question everything that points to their sins as being in error, and doubt that the Bible is inspired of God and is holy and without error, and say it is written by men, therefore, there must be some wrongs within it.

Yet, they will read a book and agree with insane theory by Sickman Fraud, ooops!, sorry... I meant Sigmund Freud and believe everything he has to say... its unbelievable!

James I can not congratulate you, because I noticed the pattern month's ago, where the post seem's to be one that most could agree with, but Calvin will show up in this post and if not so in the very next one, that is clearly one of Satan's strategies.

Ella when you exalt the error you then share with the sin.

PhillipJohn,

I was asked a question that swerved off the topic of the thread, and I answered it.

I do not hide the fact that I am a Calvinist.

Did you have something to add to this thread concerning the Bible being Inerrant and infallible?

In Christ,

PhillipJohn,

Your comment has nothing to do with this thread, but as you wish...

If we ignore what the Bible says about the Fall, and its effects on mankind, and make no mistake that IS what YOU do PhillipJohn...

THEN we are left with SELLING Christianity to people in order to get them to decide to convert.

I know you are a follower of Charles Finney, who was a heretic, and he taught that we can save ourselves by our own behavior.

And so, you wish to SELL Christianity like one would sell Amway or tupperware.

This entire Idea has NOTHING to do with the historic Christian faith, and thus I could care less in discussing with you ways that churches can sell people into 'deciding' to join you.

In Christ,

James

James the bible says to correct one if we see them in sin, and what reformed theology teaches completely opposes the word of God, it is not love to exalt an individual in error.

Some would think as carnal people do that it is wrong to expose such gross error.

It is by faith alone that fallen man according to the written word of God that man is born again, faith then the new birth, it is not regeneration then faith, that statement is in total denial of the word of God.

That statement that man can not respond to the word of God because of his fallen nature, is simply justification by man to Establish HIS OWN DOCTRINE.

LOVE ALWAYS CORRECT DEATH!!
