View Profile History	Many have fallen into Posted : 21 Jul, 2011 10:43 AM I doubt that anyone on this group believes that just because they mentally believe that Jesus died on the cross that they are saved. The demons believe and tremble and they are lost. Mental assent is PART of true faith, but only a part of it. In John 3:16 the Greek word translated as 'believe' is Pistueo. It has the idea of a reliant trust in someone, or something. The New Testament has a few places where it says that we should test ourselves to see if we are in the faith or not. People who truly believe in Jesus, will have at least some fruit that comes from that belief. They will not be living in sin as a way of life, they will be interested in God's Word, and they will be TRUSTING IN Jesus, and nothing else. They will hate sin, and love holiness, and in general will show some kind of evidence in their lives that they truly believe that they have been forgiven, and escaped Hell, and that they belong to God.
