Admin	12/28/08 Minister Steven's Sermon: The Beatitudes Posted : 28 Dec, 2008 10:42 AM Minister Steven's Sermon: The Beatitudes Matt 5:1-12, Isaiah 35:4-7, Matt 11:3-6 Sometimes the Beatitudes are hard to understand because we have the wrong perspective. Jesus preached the Beatitudes right before He gave the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus had been healing/delivering people all over the city. Jesus saw the multitude with all their hurt and pain. Jesus doesn't want us to listen to the beatitudes as a third party listening in on another's conversation. His message is going out to us directly. Jesus is speaking to us about our own individual needs. When we go to Jesus, He will meet ALL our needs!! Whether our need concerns being "poor in spirit", "mourning", "hunger" or "persecution", JESUS WILL MEET OUR NEEDS!! The Beatitudes are a Message of Hope. ****A Message of Hope**** 1) Jesus is Addressing the Needs of the People that are Listening to Him: He will bless us and meet our needs. His presence is with us. 2) The Prophecy is Fulfilled: The Messiah prophecy is being fulfilled by Jesus. All their/our needs he will meet because he has come. Isaiah 35:4-7 The blind see, the lame leap. Matt 11:3-6 The blind see, the lame walk, the mute are talking. 3) Jesus is Re-affirming the Nature of God: At this time, God has not spoken to the children of Israel for 400 years. Now Jesus has come and is acting, displaying the nature of God. **Jehovah Shalom === Peace The Lord gives Peace **Jehovah Jireh === Provides The Lord will Provide **Jehovah Rapha === Healing The Lord gives Healing **Jehovah Shammah == Present The Lord is With Us Jesus finds us right where we are At! He is Lord and His word is Final! Jesus is here to meet our needs and he is here for us NOW! Our needs are not sooo....big that He can't overcome them! HIS WORD IS FINAL!! GOD DOES NOT CHANGE!!
