If the elect lady is actually a woman, and her children are her actual offspring, why is it that those that love her and her children are contingent upon having known the truth?
And that truth is more than "truth", it is the Holy Spirit as the next verse signifies.
1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
God sealed up His Holy Spirit inside Christians to be with us forever.
The last verses of that chapter (still addressing this elect lady) make mention of the children of her elect sister.
12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full . 13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
I think, clearly, these are churches.
I'm not saying God does not/has not spoken highly of women in the Bible, because God certainly has. I just disagree with the view that those verses are not referring to churches.

Merciful:
I hope that you had looked into the Greek rendering concerning this Scripture.
Seeing that the Greek is a pointed language than English.
Had the Holy Spirit of GOD wanted this Word of GOD to be about a particular church or churches,would HE not have been specific with the wording.
The Omniscient and Wise Holy Spirit would have empowered the Apostle/Elder John ot have used the Greek word
EKKLESIA which is the word for 'CHURCH'
Rev 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
The Strongs number for 'CHURCH' is 1577 Greek
The number for 'LADY' is 2599 Greek.
The problem we have in America is Spiritual Laziness.
paying a man to read the word of GOD for the people then chewing the cud,and regergitating the procedds forth,for others to eat of.
Sounds nasty,but this is the S0-CALLED NORMAL LIFE OF THE BODY OF YESHUA in America.
Please check the Greek;
I hope you will be having a Blessed and safe week.
13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, 14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. 19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; 20 by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew.
