12/21/08 Pastor Joey's sermon: Deal With It !

Luke 1:39, Matt 3:1-17, Matt 8:23:2, II John 1:6

@Luke 1:39-42 The baby Jesus leaped in Elizabeth's womb when Mary came to visit. Elizabeth was pregnant with John who was to foretell of Jesus Christ.



**What are we pregnant with?? Are we pregnant with the passion, love and intensity for God? We need to make sure we are.

@Luke 1:80 John the Baptist grew and became Strong in Spirit. John Grew Up in Obedience to God.

@Luke2:51-52 Jesus was obedient to parents. Jesus grew on wisdom with God. Jesus Grew Up in Obedience to God.



@Matt 3:17 Jesus was baptized to set an example for us. God speaks " This is my Son in whom I am well pleased". This means that God was and will ALWAYS be pleased with his Son Jesus.

***God is NOT always pleased with us. When we choose to disobey God, He is not pleased. Yes, God will always love us because we are his kids but hes not pleased when we disobey. Its like when parents get "ticked off" when their kids disobey. They still love their kids. God gets "ticked off" when we disobey but He still loves us.



**We Please God thru Obedience. God has special plans that he wants to use us for but he needs to be able to trust us first. To please God we must obey God! Plus, God knows disobedience will hurt us. So, He will NOT put up with our disobedience. When we are NEW Christians, God will let us slide some, BUT after a while, He will call us out on our sins and may punish us for our disobedience.



**We tend to Fear Obedience. We say "this might happen if I obey" or " will God come thru if I obey?" This is a Trust Issue.

GOD CAN BE TRUSTED!! We need to trust AND obey God!!

@Matt 8:23-27 The big sea wave hit the boat and the disciples got scared. Jesus calmed the waves and said they should have faith. Trust Jesus! JESUS IS IN THE BOAT WITH US!! Jesus IS in the storm with us and HE IS NOT ASLEEP!!



@ II John 1:6 If we love Jesus, we will obey the Word of

God and be obedient! We can depend on the Lord to take care of things. God has us on a "Need To Know Basis". If God told us everything, we would mess it up!! Soo...we need to GROW UP, OBEY GOD, and PLEASE GOD!

Ohhh...and this IS NOT a smorgasborg thing. We are NOT at Ryan's steakhouse! We CANNOT pick and choose what we want to obey.

TOTAL OBEDIENCE is what God wants!!

OBEY IT ALL!!!
