Fifth Trumpet: The Locusts from the Bottomless Pit
1 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months.
The locusts in Rev 9:1-11 will be the greatest tormentors in the history of mankind OUCH!! I'm sure glad I am saved:angel:
WERE THE OT SAINTS ALSO WAITING FOR THE ETERNAL HEAVENLY NEW JERUSALEM??

Hebrews 11:9,10,13-16: By faith he {Abraham} made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the City with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. {The Eternal New Jerusalem not an earthly Jerusalem built by man}

All these people were all living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised, they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had the opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country�a **HEAVENLY ONE**. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a City for them {The eternal Heavenly New Jerusalem!}
Hebrews 11:39-40: �These {OT Saints} were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us {NT saints} would they {OT saints} be made perfect!�{Receive New heavenly bodies and the Eternal, Heavenly New Jerusalem}:applause:

Galatians 4:22-26: For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born in the ordinary way; but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a promise. These things may be taken figuratively, for the women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem that is **ABOVE** is free, and she is our mother!!�:peace:
Revelation 9:4-6: They {The locusts} were told not to harm the grass of the earth.. but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads {God's saints}. They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for 5 months {During the 42-month Great Tribulation}. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. During those {150} days men will seek death , but will not find it, they will long to die, but death will elude them.
Rev 9:10,11: They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for 5 months. They had as king over them the angel:devil: of the **ABYSS** {Satan}.
These beings are most likely Satan's:devil: fallen angels since they understand speech and are **TOLD** what to do in Rev 9:4a.
In Luke 8:26-39 demons {Satan's angels } had possessed a man and the demons begged Jesus not to send them back to the **ABYSS** {See Rev 9:11a above}
Luke 8:31: "And they {The demons or Satan's fallen angels} begged Him {Jesus} repeatedly not to order them to go into the **ABYSS*."so Jesus sent them into a herd of pigs.
The *ABYSS* is Hell as shown in 2 Peter 2:4: "God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to *HELL*, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment!"
This is quite an amazing plague God will give to the **ALL** the lost during the 42- month Great Tribulation and may include approximately 6 billion followers of 666.
The Roman Catholic Preterists claim this plague occurred before AD 70 ??? The Reformed belief is that this plague is just some symbolic fairy tale.
The Beast :devil:{666} will also come up out of the same ABYSS or HELL as per Rev 11:7 and Revelation 17:8.
*** I'm not sure about what they will be...Prophet has a good point about the Fallen Angels & the Abyss...All I know is it wont be a purty site and I'm glad we are under God's Grace and Jesus* Salvation...:peace:...xo
These beings are satan's fallen angels/demons. They will torture people acting not only int he spiritual realm but in our world.
Do you remember how they will be revealed? It will be a meteorite!

But what about the prophecy said by the prophet Joel?
They are 'like soldiers' -it is the key word!
It means they are not soldiers but they could be the locust described by John.
Revelation 1:20: Jesus says, "The mystery of the 7 stars that you saw in my right hand.. is this: The 7 stars are the **ANGELS** of the 7 churches."
Revelation 9:1,2: The 5th angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a *STAR* that had fallen from the sky to earth. The *STAR* was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When **HE** { The *ANGEL* or *STAR*, not a meteorite} opened the Abyss, smoke rose etc.
