Does this Honor God

It is interesting how, on this site a christian site we have those that propose to have all the answers to the word of God, but yet so hardheartedly oppose the truth and involving others in there agenda.

It seems as though many have taken doctrines of men and what they have heard of other's experiences and placed them ahead of God, which is nothing less than idolatry.

Say you love God and respond to a good question to one on this

This question was asked in a post

Does God still give the gifts of the spirit (tongues, healing, etc.)?

Should we pray to receive the gifts ?

My first response

Are you referring To acts 2:4?

poster's response:

The gifts are listed in 1Corinthians, chapter 12.

What us the difference between they word of wisdom and the word of knowledge?

Acts says they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke in other tongues ..Right?

My second response:

No

Spiritual Gifts

Yes it does say that, but many love to argue what occurs in acts 2:4 is the gift of tongues and it is not.

It is the early believers receiving the Holy Spirit.

The word of wisdom, is a supernatural manifestation of the spirit of God as the holy spirit wills, always pointing to the future revealing the purpose of God.

Ex. ample of the word of wisdom:Acts 9:1 0 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my names sake.

17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

The word of knowledge is a supernatural revealation by the spirit of God concerning facts in the mind of God concerning people, places or things. The above scripture is an an example of the word of wisdom, and the word of knowledge

@Misslady:

Young lady,I do believe that you have made the mistake that

so many believers have made, about the Charisma (gifts )of the grace of GOD.

Most believers point to 1st Corinthians 12,yet never talk about Romans 12.

We want to know about these gifts, yet the most important is to knowing Yeshua, and His Love for the believers and the unbelievers in 1st Corinthians 13.

Most pentecostals, charismatics, health and wealthers, and others say that unless you have spoken in TONGUES,you cannot be saved.

They also say that this is the first evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit of GOD.

Let me show you where they are wrong about this.

Let us look not at Acts 2:4,but rather lets look at what Yeshua says about this,in Acts chapter 1:5-8

Act 1:5 for John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days after."

Act 1:6 Then, indeed, coming together they questioned Him, saying, Lord, do You restore the kingdom to Israel at this time?

Act 1:7 And He said to them, It is not yours to know times or seasons which the Father placed in His own authority;

Act 1:8 but you will receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you, and you will be witnesses of Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

The Holy Spirit has been given to the Believer to EMPOWER them to being WITNESSES of YESHUA,not being witnesses FOR Yeshua.

These groups make a big deal about SUPPOSEDLY SPEAKING in a DIFFERENT LANGUAGE,which most never do.

Yet they almost NEVER emphasize about witnessing of Yeshua.

What does the Word of GOD say about Tongues, you might be interested to knowing this.

1Co 12:7 And to each one is given the showing forth of the Spirit to our profit.

1Co 12:8 For through the Spirit is given to one a word of wisdom, and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

1Co 12:9 and to another, faith by the same Spirit, and to another, gifts of healing by the same Spirit,

1Co 12:10 and to another, workings of powers, and to another, prophecy, and to another, discerning of spirits, and to another, kinds of languages, and to another, interpretation of languages.

1Co 12:11 But the one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing separately to each as He wills.

1Co 14:1 Pursue love, and seek eagerly the spiritual things, but rather that you may prophesy.

1Co 14:2 For the one speaking in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God, for no one hears, but in spirit he speaks mysteries.

1Co 14:3 But the one prophesying to men speaks for building up, and encouragement, and comfort.

1Co 14:4 The one speaking in a tongue builds himself up, but he prophesying builds up an assembly.

1Co 14:5 And I wish all of you to speak in languages, but rather that you may prophesy. For the one prophesying is greater than the one speaking in tongues, unless he interpret, that the assembly may receive building up.

1Co 14:6 But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what will I profit you, except I speak to you either in revelation, or in knowledge, or in prophecy, or in teaching?

1Co 14:18 I thank my God that I speak more languages than all of you.

1Co 14:19 But in an assembly I desire to speak five words with my mind, that I may also instruct others, than myriads of words in a foreign language.

1Co 14:20 Brothers, do not be children in your minds, but in malice be like infants, and in your minds be mature.

1Co 14:21 It has been written in the Law, "By other languages" and "by other lips" "I will speak to this people," "and even so they will not hear" Me, says the Lord. Isa. 28:11, 12

1Co 14:22 So that tongues are not a sign to those believing, but to those not believing. But prophecy is not to those not believing, but to those believing.

Let us look at Prophesy, which is to be SPEAKING forth the Word of GOD.

1Co 14:3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

1Co 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

1Co 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

1Co 14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

So then 'tongues' withou interpretation,is just like someone babbling words.

Yet Prophesying can bring conviction, revelation, and possibly change to a person.

Php 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Php 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

There are several errors in this response, but the point is this, here we have somebody asking a very important question, one that the word's answers can be life and death too, and this is the kind of response that brings nothing but confusion to the heart of the seeker.

the orginal poster's response

Although you guys have confused me a bit, thanks for your

replies.

You have a child of God asking a very important question and then you have one intentionally trying to bring forth their own agenda.

This should not be so out of a christian, no matter what you may think on the topic if you do not know it you should not say anything, let alone all the unbelief.

People need help and this is the response!!

I Corinthians 14:1-4,19 "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. For everyone who speaks in a tongue, does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who who prophesies:rolleyes: edifies the church.... In the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct other then ten thousand words in a tongue."

Ephesians 4:11-16: For it was He {Jesus} who gave some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.....Speaking the Truth **IN LOVE**:rolleyes:, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up **IN LOVE** as each part does its work!":applause:
