Yes it does say that, but many love to argue what occurs in acts 2:4 is the gift of tongues and it is not.
It is the early believers receiving the Holy Spirit.
The word of wisdom, is a supernatural manifestation of the spirit of God as the holy spirit wills, always pointing to the future revealing the purpose of God.
Ex. ample of the word of wisdom:Acts 9:1 0 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,
12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.
13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my names sake.
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
The word of knowledge is a supernatural revealation by the spirit of God concerning facts in the mind of God concerning people, places or things. The above scripture is an an example of the word of wisdom, and the word of knowledge.
Young lady,I do believe that you have made the mistake that
so many believers have made, about the Charisma (gifts )of the grace of GOD.
Most believers point to 1st Corinthians 12,yet never talk about Romans 12.
We want to know about these gifts, yet the most important is to knowing Yeshua, and His Love for the believers and the unbelievers in 1st Corinthians 13.
Most pentecostals, charismatics, health and wealthers, and others say that unless you have spoken in TONGUES,you cannot be saved.
They also say that this is the first evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit of GOD.
Let me show you where they are wrong about this.
Let us look not at Acts 2:4,but rather lets look at what Yeshua says about this,in Acts chapter 1:5-8
Act 1:5 for John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days after."
Act 1:6 Then, indeed, coming together they questioned Him, saying, Lord, do You restore the kingdom to Israel at this time?
Act 1:7 And He said to them, It is not yours to know times or seasons which the Father placed in His own authority;
Act 1:8 but you will receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you, and you will be witnesses of Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
The Holy Spirit has been given to the Believer to EMPOWER them to being WITNESSES of YESHUA,not being witnesses FOR Yeshua.
These groups make a big deal about SUPPOSEDLY SPEAKING in a DIFFERENT LANGUAGE,which most never do.
Yet they almost NEVER emphasize about witnessing of Yeshua.
What does the Word of GOD say about Tongues, you might be interested to knowing this.
1Co 12:7 And to each one is given the showing forth of the Spirit to our profit.
1Co 12:8 For through the Spirit is given to one a word of wisdom, and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9 and to another, faith by the same Spirit, and to another, gifts of healing by the same Spirit,
1Co 12:10 and to another, workings of powers, and to another, prophecy, and to another, discerning of spirits, and to another, kinds of languages, and to another, interpretation of languages.
1Co 12:11 But the one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing separately to each as He wills.
1Co 14:1 Pursue love, and seek eagerly the spiritual things, but rather that you may prophesy.
1Co 14:2 For the one speaking in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God, for no one hears, but in spirit he speaks mysteries.
1Co 14:3 But the one prophesying to men speaks for building up, and encouragement, and comfort.
1Co 14:4 The one speaking in a tongue builds himself up, but he prophesying builds up an assembly.
1Co 14:5 And I wish all of you to speak in languages, but rather that you may prophesy. For the one prophesying is greater than the one speaking in tongues, unless he interpret, that the assembly may receive building up.
1Co 14:6 But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what will I profit you, except I speak to you either in revelation, or in knowledge, or in prophecy, or in teaching?
1Co 14:18 I thank my God that I speak more languages than all of you.
1Co 14:19 But in an assembly I desire to speak five words with my mind, that I may also instruct others, than myriads of words in a foreign language.
1Co 14:20 Brothers, do not be children in your minds, but in malice be like infants, and in your minds be mature.
1Co 14:21 It has been written in the Law, "By other languages" and "by other lips" "I will speak to this people," "and even so they will not hear" Me, says the Lord. Isa. 28:11, 12
1Co 14:22 So that tongues are not a sign to those believing, but to those not believing. But prophecy is not to those not believing, but to those believing.
Let us look at Prophesy, which is to be SPEAKING forth the Word of GOD.
1Co 14:3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
1Co 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
1Co 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
1Co 14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
So then 'tongues' withou interpretation,is just like someone babbling words.
Yet Prophesying can bring conviction, revelation, and possibly change to a person.
Php 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Php 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
The Holy Spirit dwells inside of all people who are born of God.
But I think that manifestation of the Holy Spirit today is not such as at the early Church. Today we see a madness related to this issue in Christian churches. Christians bark and say that they speak in Gods languages! Christians are demon-possessed and they say that God says throught hem!!! What a madness and self-deception!!! The Toronto Blessing is very dangerous cult founded by demons and people there are really demons-possesed!!! A movement known as the Toronto Blessing has been sweeping the English-speaking world. This phenomenon, which often involves writhing about on the ground in a state of uncontrollable bliss or some similarly bizarre behavioural stunt, is painted by its proponents as a manifestation of the Holy Spirit in an individual.
1John 1:4-6 directs us to test the spirits to see whether they are of God. Part of this text was altered by the Modalists who sought to separate Christs humanity from his divinity. The correct reading, from Irenaeus, identifies any Trinitarian with the doctrine of antichrist. Do those involved with the Toronto Blessing hold this doctrine?
Significantly, no man can confer the Holy Spirit on anyone. The laying on of hands is a petition to the Father, and baptism is required. What are the Fruits of the Holy Spirit? One is self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a very serious matter (Mat. 12:31-32). An evil generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it (Mat. 12:43-45; Lk. 11:24-26). Instead demonic inhabitation increases. Convulsive writhing on the ground is characteristic of demoniacs (Mk. 9:18-29; Lk. 8:29). Christ and his followers are not recorded as doing this.
God is not mocked. The elect keep the commandments of God (Rev. 12:12, 14:12; Isa. 8:20). Those who teach contrary will be removed from Israel. The Toronto Blessing will be exposed as a "curious art" and integrated into the false religious system of the last days with its false prophet and lying wonders. Along with mesmerism, hypnosis, and transcendental meditation, it seeks to subjugate the mind and open our young to occupation by demons.
God is not the author of confusion but of peace and all things should be done decently and in order (1Cor. 14:33, 40). Let your light so shine before men (Mat. 5:16).
NOTE also:
However we all, who are born of God, can be filed with the Spirit of God if we will ask God about it:
Also The Spirit of God is GOD!!!! And the Spirit of God performs this spiritual new birth, or birth of God.
He convicts the unbeliever of sin (John 16:8-11).
The Spirit indwells believers permanently in this age (John 14:16).
The Spirits indwelling is the basis for His other ministries in believers lives. (He teaches/illumines us about scripture John 16:13; He aids in prayer Rom.8:26; He assures us of our salvation Rom.8:16; He enables us to grow see filling below Eph.5:18).
The Spirit of God fills believers:
The filling of the Spirit describes the crucial work of God enabling the believer to live a transformed life. The only way we grow spiritually is by the empowering work of God (1 Peter 1:3). It is specifically the ministry of the Holy Spirit that gives a Christian the capability of change and growth in righteousness (by the Spirit putting to death the deeds of the body Rom.8:13; the fruit of the Spirit Gal.5:22,23).
Spiritual growth us a issue of control. We are either controlled by our self-centered flesh or by the Holy Spirit who indwells us (Rom.8:4-11; Gal.5:16,17).
Although its the Spirits power that is at work, the believer must choose to be controlled/empowered by the Spirit.
The Spirit of God fills believers:
It is a command to Be filled and likewise to Walk in the Spirit (Gal.5:16).
NOTE: it is a command of God!!!
The Spirits presence is permanent (indwelling) but we must repeatedly choose to yield to God to experience the Spirits transforming power to change and grow us (filling). In actual experience, walking in the Spirit or being filled with the Spirit means living the Christian life (facing temptations, making decisions, etc.) with a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit. He is the one who enable us producing godly fruits (Gal.5:22,23).
The Bible tells us to be "filled with the Spirit!" Have you ever wondered what that means? It may not be what you think.
We might surmise to be "filled with the Spirit" means that we will have an emotional experience. Now, it could mean that, but you can have this encounter with God and have no emotional experience to speak of.
I'm sure we would all love to have an emotional encounter with God every single day. It would be great to just get "zapped" every morning, wouldn't it? But that is not necessarily going to happen.
In the Book of Acts, we read of the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came upon the first Christians and filled them. The day of Pentecost was like an explosion that set the early Church into motion.
Like when you start driving a car, there is the "explosion" that starts the engine. But once the engine is started, you just drive the car. You don't need the explosion over and over, just one to start the engine.
Thank God for those powerful, emotional, life-changing encounters we have with Him. But Scripture reminds us, "The just shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17). So we don't need "another" Pentecost any more than we need "another" Calvary.
We just need to appropriate and apply what God has made available for every believer. And that is the work and power of the Holy Spirit to help you be the person God has called you to be.
Paul tells us, "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). So we don't need "spirits," we need the Holy Spirit!
The word "filled" has many shades of meaning. One translation of the word "filled" describes the concept of the wind filling the sail of a ship as it carries it out to sea. By that definition, to be filled with the Spirit is to allow God to fill your sails and guide your course through life, making His commands a delight, not drudgery.
The word "filled" also speaks of something that should be ongoing and continuous. You could translate it "Be being filled with the Holy Spirit," just like you have to put gas in your car.
You need the constant filling of the Holy Spirit. And the good news is that God will not charge you!
When we hear the term "filled with the Spirit," it can sometimes frighten us. We might have seen bizarre things take place in the name of the Holy Spirit. So we think, If that is being filled with the Holy Spirit, then I don't know if I want it.
To be filled with the Holy Spirit doesn't necessarily involve an emotional experience. It can, but it doesn't have to. The word "filled" as used in the Bible, and specifically in Ephesians 5:18, is a word that has many shades of meaning. Not one of them, however, describes an emotional experience. One translation of the word "filled" is the idea of wind filling the sail of a ship. The wind carries that vessel along. So to be filled with the Spirit means that God fills your sails, so to speak, and guides you through life. You are led through life by the Holy Spirit.
But the idea of being filled with the Spirit also carries the meaning of being permeated. In the original language, the word was also used to describe salt permeating meat to flavor and preserve it. God wants His Holy Spirit to permeate the lives of His children in what they say, think, and do. In other words, being filled with the Spirit is not limited to one, isolated instance.
To be filled with the Spirit means that God's Spirit infuses every aspect of our lives. He saturates our prayer life, our worship life, and our business life too. He influences the way we treat others. To be filled with the Spirit is walking thought by thought, decision by decision, and act by act, under the Spirit's control.
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
 Acts 4:31
If you want to be used by God, then you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The word "filled" as used in the Bibleand specifically in Ephesians 5:18, which says, "Be filled with the Spirit"carries many shades of meaning.
One translation is the idea of the wind filling the sail of a ship at sea. The wind carries the vessel along. To be filled with the Spirit means that He fills your sails and guides you through life. You are led by the Spirit, making God's commands not drudgery, but a delight.
"Filled" also carries the meaning of being permeated. The term was used to describe salt permeating meat in order to flavor and preserve it. God wants His Holy Spirit to permeate the lives of His children in what they say, think, and do. God's Spirit should permeate every aspect of our lives.
In the original language, "Be filled with the Spirit" could also be translated, "Be constantly filled with the Spirit." It is continuous.
What would you think if your friend bought a new car and, after driving it for a week, he tells you, "This piece of junk. I can't believe it! The car just stopped running, and I can't find anything wrong with it."
"When did you fill it up last?" you ask.
"When I bought it."
In the same way, a lot of Christians wonder what's wrong with their lives. They put the key in the ignition, but it just won't start. It is because they need a refill. They need to constantly be filled with the Spirit.
God is ready to fill you and empower you and use you. Are you filled with the Spirit?
In the Christian life we often try in our own strength to do what God has called us to do. We think, I've got to keep God's commandments and resist temptation and love my spouse and. . . . It is hard stuff.
But when we say, "Lord I can't do this on my own. I just ask that your Holy Spirit would fill me and help me to do these things," we will realize that doing what God tells us to do can actually become a delight rather than mere duty.
The Bible says, "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). The word "filled" used here carries multiple meanings, one of which is wind filling a sail. So to be filled with the Spirit means being carried along by, and under the control of, Jesus Christ. The word "filled" in this verse also speaks of something that is continuous. So effectively, this verse is saying, "Be filled over and over and over and over again with the Holy Spirit."
Another way the word "filled" could be translated is "to permeate," the way salt was packed into meat to preserve it. So to "be filled with the Holy Spirit," means that we need to let the Holy Spirit permeate our lives and everything we do. Let the Holy Spirit permeate your prayer life, your worship life, your business, your marriage, and the way you treat others.
So a good habit to develop is to get up in the morning and say, "Lord, fill me with the Spirit today. Help me to be permeated by the Spirit. Help me to be led by the Spirit. Help me to obey what the Spirit leads me to do."
