The Fall the Holy Spirit the Gospel and the Ability to Choose.

Let us say (just for the sake of discussion) that James and the Reformers are correct in that man lost his ability to choose when he fell in the Garden of Eden.

Then perhaps it is through the Holy Spirit working on the heart of a person and the hearing of the Gospel that God restores the ability to choose.

How a person chooses then will determine their freedom or continued life of slavery, ie : the "no choice' of a hardened heart.

Either way you look at it, we still make the choice (of our own free will).

James replies:

25 verses of Scripture say this, and I can show quotes from the early church fathers that say what you just said.

Two continues:

Then perhaps it is through the Holy Spirit working on the heart of a person and the hearing of the Gospel that God restores the ability to choose.

James replies:

Scripture says more than just working on the heart, it says "Made alive". And this does more than just restores the ability to choose, it literally changes mans nature, so that the mans new natural desire will be to repent and trust in Jesus.

Two continues:

How a person chooses then will determine their freedom or continued life of slavery, ie : the "no choice' of a hardened heart.

James replies:

A person will choose ONLY according to their nature. If they are not born again, they will only choose to reject God.

If they are born again, they WILL choose to repent and trust in Jesus. No matter if they will be persecuted, or lose their job, or lose respect from their friends, or even be killed for it, they will still repent and trust in Jesus, because God has made them alive Spiritually.

God did NOT leave the Salvation of His chosen people to chance.

Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

In Christ,

James

James that is what you say, the bible says clearly otherwise you have to choose to believe a lie and that does not make those that believe wrong.

Wow James, you are really confused on this. You made 3 points, we can find common ground on the first, however this strange idea of yours that God makes people "born again" against their will is really bizarre!

I chose to repent and trust in Jesus, and Then I was born again. How can one possibly be born again Before receiving salvation? It doesn't make sense to me.
