Quotes and Scriptures on HOW a person is Regenerated.

Regeneration is a sovereign work of God (Jn. 1:12-13; 3:3-8; Jas. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:3) a radical work or total transformation (Ezek. 36:26-27; 1 Jn. 3:9) not just an addition...The SOURCE of regeneration is Christ (1 Pet 1:3; Eph 1:3, 2:4, 4:24; 2 Cor 5:17) The AGENT of regeneration is the Holy Spirit (Jn. 3:3-8; Titus 3:5) The INSTRUMENT of regeneration is the Word of God (Jas. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:23, 25) which precedes and causes faith (Jn 6:63-65, 1 jn 5:1, Eph. 2:5; Col. 2:13)

"God effects a change which is radical and all-pervasive, a change which cannot be explained in terms of any combination, permutation or accumulation of human resources, a change which is nothing less than a new creation by Him who calls the things that be not as though they were, who spoke and it was done, whocommanded and it stood fast. This, in a word, is regeneration." - John Murray

Regeneration is the communication of the new heart to sinners by the operation of the Holy Spirit through the Word...a Christ-generated act of instantaneously communicating spiritual life to a man convicted of sin.

Regeneration is expressly denied to be of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man (John 1:13), and is ascribed to God himself. Not all men have faith in Christ; and those who do have it, have it not of themselves; it is the gift of God, worked out through the Redemption which is in Christ through the mighty operation of his Spirit, which is the fruit and effect of His invincible grace. This is because the natural man is wholly captive under the power and dominion of sin, and a slave unto it, and has neither a power nor will to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ apart from the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit.

Synergists teach that 'salvation depends on human will', but the Bible teaches that 'it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy." (Rom 9:16)

"And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live...Then you shall know that I am the LORD; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the LORD." - Ezekiel 37:14

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive [quickened us] with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:4-5

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe. (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) And he said, This is why I told you that no one can come to me [i.e. believe in me] unless it is granted him by the Father.

John 6:63-65

You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God..."

1 Peter 1:23-25

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God.

1 John 5:1

Faith in the living God and his Son Jesus Christ is always the result of the new birth, and can never exist except in the regenerate. Whoever has faith is a saved man.

Charles Spurgeon from the sermon Faith and Regeneration

If salvation is the implantation of a new, infinite life in the soul, it must be a work of God. Self-caused effects can never rise above the character or qualities of their cause. "Flesh gives birth to flesh but the Spirit gives birth to Spirit," Jesus told Nicodemus. This saving grace cannot be caused by the creature, it can only come from God.

John Hannah from To God be the Glory (pg. 34-5)

The inward offer is a kind of spiritual enlightenment, whereby the promises are presented to the hearts of men, as it were, by an inward word.

Scripture example of the father of our faith doing exactly what reformed theology says man can not do.

Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Saras womb:

20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

This is a man that heard and believed God according to the word spoken to him as a man in spiritual death.

This section of scriptures also confirms the lie projected by reformation theology in Romans three.

Romans three is true of course as it is declared, not as some try to project it.

James wrote - "Synergists teach that 'salvation depends on human will', but the Bible teaches that 'it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy." (Rom 9:16)"

Synergists? I have never been referred to as so many different names as those in Reformed Theology come up with toward those who disagree. But whatever... You need to rewrite your statement above. I don't believe "salvation depends on human will", but that salvation is a free gift to all mankind [Romans 6:23] to either be accepted or refused.

I am still unable to find any passages that show men who are or were unable to resist God's grace. Can you post one?

Here is The apostles doctrine on man being saved, regenerated, coming from the dominion of darkness, into the marvelous light of the Gospel of Christ.

Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

For by faith is man saved, not by grace nor by regeneration.

James, I am well aware a person didn't need to know what they are talking about when they copy and paste.....but it helps!

For instance: if you knew the definition of Synergism; you know would know it can't depend on ONE thing......um, duh! Yet you say Synergists teach Salvation depends on human will.

It depends on alot more than that....that is WHY it is called Synergism.

James replies:

Yes and that is why I said TWO DAYS AGO, that Arminians make themselves a kind of Co-savior, remember?

It is your free will, allowing God to save you.

(That sounds So ridiculous, even saying it, but that IS what you believe.)

Monergism means God alone saves. Synergism means God and

The man work together and the man is partially responsible for saving Himself.

This contradicts PLENTY of Scripture. And this is nothing new that I am saying to you. Here is a quote from 500AD:

If anyone makes the assistance of grace [to believe the gospel] depend on the humility or obedience of man

and does not agree that it is a gift of grace itself that we are obedient and humble,

he contradicts the Apostle who says, "What have you that you did not receive?" (1 Cor. 4:7), and,

"But by the grace of God I am what I am" (1 Cor. 15:10). - Council of Orange

I heard a radio preacher say one night: "God casts a vote for you, and the devil casts a vote against you, and YOU cast the deciding vote!"

Either God alone saves us, OR we are partially our OWN SAVIOR.

In Christ,

James

Or James, the word of God is true and reformation theology is a lie, and that is the truth, and it is actually very kind to say so, so the guilty would have the chance to repent and turn to the lord.

James replies:

Eze 36:26-27 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and CAUSE you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Jer 32:40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall NOT depart from me.

Joh 6:37-40 ALL that the Father giveth me SHALL come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of ALL which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

In Christ,

James

PhillipJohn,

The section of Scripture you gave tells us that man can ONLY be saved by faith in Christ alone.

This is the central tenant of the Christian faith, and the MOST important point in the Bible.

HOWEVER....

The Bible ALSO teaches that fallen man IS UNABLE to repent and have faith.

The Bible teaches that GOD GIVES repentance and faith, and that he ONLY gives it to His chosen people.

1. There are NO Scripture verses that say that fallen man can have faith.

2.There are SEVERAL Scripture verses that say that fallen man CAN NOT have faith, and that ALL mankind is UNABLE to have faith.

Ephesians 2:8,9 explicitly state that faith itself is a GIFT from God.

So, just posting Scriptures that say "believe" does NOT mean anyone has the ability.

Do you understand this?

In Christ,

James
