Guys,

I have a question: why do you think Jesus said that Elijah already came and that John was Elijah but was not recognized as such:

God Jesus said:

Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Matthew 11:11-14

Elijah really appears with Moses during the Transfiguration of Jesus.

According to the Books of Kings, Elijah defended the worship of God over that of the more popular Baal, he raised the dead, brought fire down from the sky, and ascended into heaven in a whirlwind (either accompanied by a chariot and horses of flame or riding in it).

In the Book of Malachi, Elijah's return is prophesied "before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord,"

The final mention of Elijah in the Hebrew Bible is in the Book of Malachi, where it is written, "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord." That day is described as the burning of a great furnace, "... so that it will leave them neither root nor branch." (Malachi 3:19)

It will be the day of Jesus' Return to the earth.

John the Baptist preached a message of repentance and baptism. He predicted the Day of Judgment using imagery similar to that of Malachi. He also preached that the Messiah- Jesus- was coming. All of this was done in a style that immediately recalled the image of Elijah to his audience. He wore a coat of animal hair secured with a leather belt (Matthew 3:4, Mark 1:6). He also frequently preached in wilderness areas: near the Jordan river.

In the Gospel of John, John the Baptist was asked by a delegation of priests if he was Elijah. To which, he replied "I am not (John 1:21)." The author of Matthew 11:14 and Matthew 17:10-13 however, makes it clear that John was Elijah but was not recognized as such. In the annunciation narrative in Luke, an angel appears to Zechariah, John's father, and tells him that John "will turn many of the sons of Israel to the Lord their God," and that he will go forth "in the spirit and power of Elijah (Luke 1:16-17)."

I did not see a question mark in all of your post, therefore I can only assume the question you are asking......

The answer would be John the Baptist was not Elijah, however he did come in the spirit of Elijah. Mind you Not Elijah's actual spirit but rather 'in the spirit of'.

As for the coming of Jesus, I think I dare not discuss your views on eschatology.

I studied English myself...no teachers..only God when I was reading the Holy Bible in English.

You know God increadible blesses people through His Scripture even if you just read it to study language!!!
