Psalm 8

For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of David.

1O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens!

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established strength, Because of thine adversaries, That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor.

6 Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:

7 All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field,

8 The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Psalm 8

The Message (MSG)

Psalm 8

A David Psalm

1 God, brilliant Lord, yours is a household name.

2 Nursing infants gurgle choruses about you;

toddlers shout the songs

That drown out enemy talk,

and silence atheist babble.

3-4 I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous,

your handmade sky-jewelry,

Moon and stars mounted in their settings.

Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,

Why do you bother with us?

Why take a second look our way?

5-8 Yet we've so narrowly missed being gods,

bright with Eden's dawn light.

You put us in charge of your handcrafted world,

repeated to us your Genesis-charge,

Made us lords of sheep and cattle,

even animals out in the wild,

Birds flying and fish swimming,

whales singing in the ocean deeps.

9 God, brilliant Lord,

your name echoes around the world.

Psalm 8

GODS WORD Translation (GW)

Psalm 8

For the choir director; on the gittith;[a] a psalm by David.

1O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the earth!

Your glory is sung above the heavens.[b]

2From the mouths of little children and infants,

you have built a fortress against your opponents

to silence the enemy and the avenger.

3When I look at your heavens,

the creation of your fingers,

the moon and the stars that you have set in place

4what is a mortal that you remember him

or the Son of Man that you take care of him?

5You have made him a little lower than yourself.

You have crowned him with glory and honor.

6You have made him rule what your hands created.

You have put everything under his control:

7all the sheep and cattle, the wild animals,

8the birds, the fish,

whatever swims in the currents of the seas.

9O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the earth!

Two all you have to do is read the context and know what it is saying. almost all translations read as such.

The word translated angel is Elohim and is translated every time as God.

The new testament is very clear where man is.

Trying to pull a fast one ...eh?

This word can be translated three ways ; ie. God, angels, gods.

But since you bring up the New Testament, the writer of Hebrews has translated the word as angels as do 50% of the translations I looked up. There is another word that specifically refers 'diety' and this isn't it.

Even if it is translated as "God" that says nothing to our position compared to angels, however there are other verses that do.

There is no fast one Two, hebrews is a quote from the the 8th Ps, and that word is translated every other time God, but even if it was not the does not line up with the entirety of the bible.

This post was started by one that likes to try and prove the truth, to not be the truth, and it doesn't fit the bible.

Man is not under angels, angels are our servants.

Also Two that is why the lord Gave us the two or three witnesses, scripture. By the way I had already answered this in the post but it seems as though when some want to hold on to their opinions, they like to accuse others of running around in circles.

The church has authority over all the power of the enemy just as the word says.

Now if you want to know the new testament of the church and where we are in this relationship it is not under angels, but it is very clear in ephesians.

Also you have another truth, as we are to rule and reign as kings and priest's unto our God.

Ps 8:5
Posted : 6 Jun, 2011 03:48 AM

Hebrews 1:12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

8 But of the Son He says,

(V)YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER,

AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF [h]HIS KINGDOM.

9 (W)YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS;

(X)THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS (Y)ANOINTED YOU

WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS ABOVE YOUR COMPANIONS.

10 And,

(Z)YOU, LORD, IN THE BEGINNING LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH,

AND THE HEAVENS ARE THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS;

11 (AA)THEY WILL PERISH, BUT YOU REMAIN;

(AB)AND THEY ALL WILL BECOME OLD LIKE A GARMENT,

12 (AC)AND LIKE A MANTLE YOU WILL ROLL THEM UP;

LIKE A GARMENT THEY WILL ALSO BE CHANGED.

BUT YOU ARE (AD)THE SAME,

AND YOUR YEARS WILL NOT COME TO AN END.

13 But to which of the angels has He ever said,

(AE)SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND,

(AF)UNTIL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES

A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET?

14 Are they not all (AG)ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will (AH)inherit (AI)salvation?

Maybe we should just come out and say Satan is lord then we can Phillip is confused even more, or should we say we speak other than english, so again man can be right and God a liar.

Now you really have to be confused to say man is lower than angels:

Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

''''''''''if we are under angels, Jesus is under angels and the bible is confused as.....

Ephesians is a good ch for one that wants to understand man's authority, and the two prayers where there and are there for just that reason and you can pray them for your self as Paul did that the church nay know their place and calling.

Good word PJ, for such a time as this.. this Psalm when you look at it in the whole 9 verses, it gives God glory and honors man, and verse 5 as you have posted, lets man know his position as having dominion over everything God has created, this whole Psalmit lets man know his past, present, and future conditon and position and man's restored and redeemed position for his eternal furure.

Good word!

friends, We are created in the image of God. This does put us above all others in creation.

There is a verse that says we will judge angels.

This is why satan hates us so much.

Hey, do you believe it, PJ and I agree.:laugh:

Now you all can be thankfull. hmmmmm
