Hello everyone.

Over the years, ihad heard a lot of people say these words.

'Satan/devil,I REBUKE you in the Name of Jesus'.

This is the Word Rebuke in its Greek form.

Is there even one Scripture that says that WE are to be rebuking. Satan.

If there is not, then could these people be usurping the authority of Yeshua.

Could this amount to saying 'LORD,LORD'.

As for rebuking Satan; I really haven't really considered usurping the authority of Jesus, because I never got past the part of it being really stupid and not found in Scripture.

"RESIST", Yes, by all means it is Scriptural, we are called to use the word and prayer.

There is a God ordained order in this world and other dimensions which (it seems) even God respects, otherwise He could have forgiven our sins with a snap of his fingers.

Let us look into the Scripture which is taken out of context and used wrongly by SOME groups of people.

These particular groups believe that Yehsua has given to them to be able to REBUKE HA-SATAN/The Satan.

Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power(1) to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power(2) of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

I give:

Greek:

Original Word: δίδωμι

Part of Speech: Verb

Transliteration: didmi

Phonetic Spelling: (did'-o-mee)

Short Definition: I offer, give

Definition: I offer, give; I put, place.

Power #1:

Greek:

Original Word: ἐξουσία, ας, ἡ

Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine

Transliteration: exousia

Phonetic Spelling: (ex-oo-see'-ah)

Short Definition: power, authority, weight

Definition: (a) power, authority, weight, especially: moral authority, influence, (b) in a quasi-personal sense, derived from later Judaism, of a spiritual power, and hence of an earthly power.

1849 eksousa (from 1537 /ek, "out from," which intensifies 1510 /eim, "to be, being as a right or privilege") authority, conferred power; delegated empowerment ("authorization"), operating in a designated jurisdiction.

In the NT, 1849 /eksousa ("delegated power") refers to the authority God gives to His saints authorizing them to act to the extent they are guided by faith (His revealed word).

Power #2:

Greek:

Original Word: δύναμις, εως, ἡ

Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine

Transliteration: dunamis

Phonetic Spelling: (doo'-nam-is)

Short Definition: might, power, marvelous works

Definition: (a) physical power, force, might, ability, efficacy, energy, meaning (b) plur: powerful deeds, deeds showing (physical) power, marvelous works.

1411 dnamis (from 1410 /dnamai, "able, having ability") properly, "ability to perform" (L-N); for the believer, power to achieve by applying the Lord's inherent abilities. "Power through God's ability" (1411 /dnamis) is needed in every scene of life to really grow in sanctification and prepare for heaven (glorification). 1411 (dnamis) is a very important term, used 120 times in the NT.

Enemy:

Greek:

Original Word: ἐχθρός, ά, όν

Part of Speech: Adjective

Transliteration: echthros

Phonetic Spelling: (ech-thros')

Short Definition: hated, hostile, an enemy

Definition: hated, hostile; subst: an enemy.

2190 exthrs properly, an enemy; someone openly hostile (at enmity), animated by deep-seated hatred. 2190/exthros ("enemy"), implies irreconcilable hostility, proceeding out of a "personal" hatred bent on inflicting harm (DNTT).

[2190 (exthrs) describes a person resolved to inflict harm (see DNTT, Vol 1, 553) i.e. driven by irreconcilable, deep-rooted enmity.]

The Scripture here is very clear, that the believer has

'Power/ Authority' over the power of enemy.

I Have a few questions to ask.

1.WHo or what is the enemy

2.What is the power that this enemy has at their disposal.

3.What power is available to the believer, once they recognize their enemy.

4.What type of weapon(s) are available to the believers

5.Whose battles are these,What is to be my attitude in this.

Luk 10:20 But stop rejoicing in this, that the evil spirits submit to you. But rather rejoice that your names are written in Heaven.

My attidute is to be That i do not rejoice over that spirits submit to the believer.

But rather rejoice that your names are written in Heaven.

Yeshua did not think it such a big deal that spirits would be submitting to the Authority of GOD through the believer.

Shalom

Mr.Meanie

Two you can't find anywhere in the new testament that Jesus did anything with Satan, if you think you have no authority it is not the lord that is wrong.

PJ, what about the devild in the herd of pigs. Jesus drove them out.

what about after Jesus fasted for 40 days when satan challenged jesus. He corrected satan in misquating the word. what about the 3 dats Jesus spent in Hell. What di he do in Hell? he set us free from sin.

That is a whole bunch in a little bit.Should I continue......

PJ, I can find places where Jesus dealt directly with Satan and others where He dealt with demons, and if you notice they are different. In all humility I would ask you to review the Scriptures, you might come away with a slightly different perspective......'might'

PJ,

I thought that is what we are discussing : Authority.

Since we do not have Authority over God; it means our authority is limited.

Since we have been given Authority over demons; it means we have some Authority.

Therefore the question is where does our Authority end and God's begin.
