Pastor Joey's Sermon: Just Do Something For God.

Matt 2:1-12 , Matt 2:13-18, Matt 7:24-27



**We need to quit over-thinking and just DO something. Just simply obey what God has revealed to you**



The wise men from the East came to see the Christ child after He was born in Bethlehem. Vs 7. Herod sent the wise men to find Jesus from him. He told them he wanted to worship the Christ child but he really wanted to kill Jesus.

Vs 11-12 God warned the wise men to NOT go back to Herod, but to return to their own country another way.

The wise men were amazing....yes, but ALL they really did was give gifts to Jesus. Thats all they did. They didn't lead thousands of people to the Lord, they didn't raise anybody from the dead. They just gave gifts.

BUT......They did pursue Jesus.

...........They did worship Jesus

...........They did obey God and went home another way

They did something with their lives, with INTENTIONALITY.

They intended to do something. They did something for Jesus. What Are You Doing?



We need to learn from the Wise Men: Take the journey with God and keep giving God little gifts as we proceed on our journey with Him. Do simple acts of obedience to the Lord.

***Do what you know you should do and you will know what to do. God clarifies in the midst of obedience, not beforehand.***

If we begin to do what we know we should do, then we can live life to the full! We must take the initiative, seize the moment for God! Live your life in simple obedience and worship to the Lord. **Do what you know you should do!

Don't be a side-liner! Don't be up close but really just a side-liner because of your willful acts of disobedience and sins.

Are You a Side-Liner?



The wise men had left and God told Joseph in a dream to take Jesus away to Egypt. King Herod was searching for baby Jesus to kill him. Herod started a manhunt and LOST the manhunt! His attempt to kill baby Jesus FAILED!!

Mary and Joseph DID something. They ran and hid from evil. This evil being King Herod. There are times when WE need to obey the Lord and run from evil. RUN !! **Do what you know you should do!!



If we have anger in our heart toward someone=forgive them. We are to love one another and be patient with folk.

Love your enemies, do good to them that despitefully use you. **Do what you know you should do! The way we handle our finances is another act of obedience to God. Our Tithes is our first fruits to God. Be thankful NOW with what we have NOW! **Do what you know you should do!



Bad company corrupts good character. Make sure you choose wisely who you hang out with. Make sure you choose wisely who YOUR CHILDREN hang out with too. **Do what you know you should do! You say you want to GROW in the Lord. Do you go to Bible Study? Do you go to Connection Point Groups? Before you come to Church, do you prepare your heart to meet God? **Do what you know you should do!



Matt 7:24-27 Build a house on a strong foundation. This foundation is God and His Word. The house WILL NOT fall down during the storm. The foundation is simple blocks of obedience to God. Don't overthink Christianity! Its just one step of obedience at a time. Then God will set our life in order and we will be in the sweet spot of God.

**DO WHAT YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD DO!!
