We Christians can sometimes appear to the world to be a joyless crowd. Folks, it's okay to have Fun! I thank God that I grew up in a home where water fights, good-natured competion, barbecues, and laughter were a normal part of life. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Laughter is a gift of God's goodness. It has lifted me up during some hard times. The joy of the Lord has often been my refuge. (Neh. 8:10) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When King David brought the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem, he danced "with all his might"before the Lord (2Samuel 6:14). I believe my buddies and I might call it "kickin up your heels". Verse 16 says David was leaping and whirling! David's wife felt like his antics were unbecoming, to say the least (verse 22). His response was to announce he'd get even more "undignified". Lol His spirit was joyful and he felt light as a feather. TAKE TIME TO LAUGH!!! (Eccl. 3:4) ~~~~ 2Samuel 6: 12~23

Mr. Meanie, I welcome your comments on David dancing ( maybe with some word definitions). I enjoy reading your posts.

Hey chevy:

In Nehemiah 8:10,the Hebrew understanding is quite different then the English.

Neh 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

Neh 8:9 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

Neh 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Neh 8:11 So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.

Vs.10 says:

Neh 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

The very last part 'The joy of the YHWH ( LORD )is your strength.

This sounds as though YHWH gives joy to His people and they are glad.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Though this is true, but the Hebrews would not have understood this as such.

David would have understood this as:

YHWH joying,or delighting over me strengthens me.

We are to know that ABBA delights, joys, and dances over His children,in Christ.

I have to go and fellowship with the Saints.

I should be back later and write about David dancing before YHWH.

Shalom:

Mr.Meanie

Looking forward to it, Mr.Meanie! I wonder if I were ever to dance before the Lord like David (undignified, with all my might, spinning, twirling) how many of my friends would think I should seek mental help? LOL

Hey chevy:

Before you start dancing like David, first check into the laws about exposing yourself.

During the time of David these laws did not exist.

David saw that He was in the presence of YHWH,not so much men/women.

He was aware of their presence, yet he was more aware of the presence of YHWH.

Psa 139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

Though David sinned with Bathsheba,he knew that his sin was really against YHWH.

Psa 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

Do we understand that we stand in e presnece of GOD,

continually.

Do we even acknowledge His presence, being Omnipresent as He is.

Now look at the consequences to Michal for despisng YHWH,and for despising Davids enjoying being in the presence of YHWH.

2Sa 6:23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
