Plead The Blood?

I heard a preacher on t.v. this morning telling the congregation they needed to be "pleading the blood" of Jesus over their finances, homes, loved ones, etc. Can someone tell me what pleading the blood means? I've heard more than one person talk about it, but never got an understanding of what they mean.

Good question. I never found anything about this in the Bible. I first heard the phrase years ago while watching Oral Roberts on tv. Since the core of the Word of Faith movement is based on magic and mysticism it makes sense that it would come from there.

I get the idea from this that by pleading the blood a person would be asking God to protect something or someone from Satan so that he is not able to get near it, or "get his hands on it". This way they won't have to later bind Satan and tell him to get his hands off our stuff.

Chevy, you would probably enjoy a word search on "blood". The Bible teaches the life is in the blood and there is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood. Romans and Hebrews chapter 13 has alot to say about blood and 1John 1.

If you think about it; there is and has never been any physical thing with more power on the face of this earth than the blood of Jesus!

However.....

This is where the rub comes in:

People have a tendency toward trying to use powerful symbols or words to manipulate things in their favor, this is what witchcraft is about. And it would seem many Christians are not immune from this tendency.

Although I do believe there is a right way to plead the blood of Jesus. Considering the creator of the universe willingly shed His blood out of Love for you. The realization of that simple yet powerful truth puts things in perspective when faced with overwhelming odds.

There is willful ignorance of spiritual things and their is those that oppose bible truths because they hear and say others do it and etc. etc.

Before anyone says anything against anyone that walks in light that me or you have, it is wise to keep silent than speak out against truth we know nothing about.

The most important topic I believe in the bible is faith, and yet the most misunderstood topic in the church.

One of the biggest lies Satan has told the church is a false sovereignty of God and the lie that Satan is on a leash, he is not.

Bible faith has a voice, and that voice is powerful against Satan when spoken in faith.

Re 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Man's redemption is based on the shedding of Jesus blood, you will find scripture after scripture talking about the blood of Jesus.

You have a very clear picture of the power of the blood when the Israelite's posted it on their door posts Satan could not come in.

Brothers,

I agree that we should appreciate Jesus blood shed for every one of us because by His blood we are saved from hell and death. But thats all. We should not make a magic out of our FAITH in God Jesus!

Verses about Jesus blood to remember:

REVELATION 12:10-11

10 . . . the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

11 "And they overcame him (satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

1 PETER 1:18-19

18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold . . .

19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

COLOSSIANS 1:13-14 NKJ

13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

HEBREWS 10:19

19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus..

ROMANS 3:25

25 whom God set forth to be a propitiation by His blood, through faith . . .

1 PETER 1:2

2 . . . in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

Pleading the blood simply means applying the blood to our life and circumstances just like the Israelites applied it to their door posts and were protected from the destroyer (Exodus 12).

Pleading the blood is simply the taking hold of the authority and power available to us by the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (NIV)

Jesus has shed His blood and made it available for every believer to use. Our mouths play the same role as the bunch of hyssop the Israelites used. We are to use our mouths to apply the blood. Knowing about the blood is not sufficient, speaking about the power of the blood is also necessary.

Speaking with our mouths is important in enforcing our victory (Romans 10:10).

We plead the blood by confessing the salvation and deliverance the blood has brought us.

Let's use a simple illustration to drive home this point.

Imagine the world as a big courtroom.

God is the Judge sitting on the throne (Hebrews 12:23)

Jesus is your advocate, standing beside you to argue your case (1John 2:1) He reminds the Judge that He died and shed His blood for you.

The devil, satan, is your accuser bringing charges and even attacks against you (Revelation 12:10, Zechariah 3:1)

When an accusation is brought against a person in a law court the defendant, if innocent, can greatly increase His or her chances of being acquitted by producing a reliable witness.

Here lies the power of pleading the blood.

Although we were not physically there when Jesus died, His shed blood bears witness to the fact that He died, rose again and defeated the powers of darkness (Colossians 2: 15). All witnesses need to speak. Remember the blood is living and speaks (Hebrews 12: 24). When we actively plead (speak out) the blood into the negative circumstances and attacks satan brings against us, we are bringing a powerful witness to speak on our behalf (1 John 5:8).

Pleading or speaking the blood causes the blood of Jesus to speak out on our behalf and stops the attacks of satan. Any time you sense the hosts of darkness coming against you plead the blood of Jesus against.

You can use whatever words the Holy Spirit lays on your heart to do this. A good example is below.

"Your forces of darkness attacking my home and life, I command you to stop in Jesus name. I hold the blood of Jesus against you. The blood of Jesus has defeated you. The blood of Jesus has set me free. The blood of Jesus avails for me. I plead the blood of Jesus over my home, my life and my family. I protect them from your attacks. I walk in the freedom Jesus' death has brought me. Amen"

Hi guys,

I disagree with these statements:

Pleading or speaking the blood causes the blood of Jesus to speak out on our behalf and stops the attacks of satan. Any time you sense the hosts of darkness coming against you plead the blood of Jesus against.

I hold the blood of Jesus against you.

I plead the blood of Jesus over my home, my life and my family.

Why? because it is kinda majic.

You do not need to use any ritual to be free if you are FREE when God Jesus saved you and redeemed you. You do not need to invent any words which are not used in the Holy Bible to support you when you are fighting with your fears.

Why? Because if you are FREE then demons will not touch you, says the Scripture!

There is no need to say stupid statements. We are saved by His blood and we appreciate it. But there should be no mix of any rituals/majic in our WALKING in TRUTH.

We cast out demons! We do not fear them!

If you would say it: I plead the blood of Jesus over my home, my life and my family.

Then that is stupid! If your son is unbeliever HOW are you going to save him from the hell fire? Better pray about him and forget any new-invented rituals in some crazy churches all over the world!

Bahira, God uses the foolish things to the world to confound the wise, legalism chokes the Spirit of The Most High, Yeshua spoke against the legalism of the Pharisees and scribes, and Sadducee, and pleading the blood works, in real life situations, and if have walked in my shoes and have seen what I have seen, your observations may take a different tone, when we learn to walk in the Word in Spirit and Truth instead of talking the Word, then the Spirit world and it's mysteries will open up for you! God Bless You

1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
