james the brother of Jesus, who was he. Recently I went to the library to rent some videos to study the word.Binle videos.

One of these videos talked about the relationship between James the brother of Jesus and Paul. james wrote the book of James. Where he says he is the brother of jesus.

James was the one who wanted all the gentile converts to be circumcsed. He also wanted all followers of Christ to abide by Jewish customs.

This is the issue and man that Paul had a confrontation with at Antiach. When the jewish believers would not eat with gentiles. The church was never in agreement on how to resolve this issue.

On one hand there are those who say Paul corrupted the teachings of Jesus and on the other those who point out Jesus taught under the law and Paul under the Spirit of Jesus after the righteous requirements of the law were fulfilled.

If you think about it....we were reached by Paul's Gospel not by James' Gospel ie : the Gospel to the Jews ie: their long awaited Messiah had come. Whereas the Gospel to the Gentiles would be since the Jews rejected their Messiah, He who open up His offer invitation to the world.

Jesus specifically said he was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. This must of been confusing to the Disciples and James who heard Jesus say this then after His death the Holy Spirit takes the Gospel to the world.

Glad to see you ack Dennis... hope you're feeling much better.. make sure you eat you wheaties eveyday and drink plenty of cool water:winksmile:

Say, I was just wondering if you made a mistake about Paul confrontation in Antioch., and instead of typing Peter's name you typed James' name.

Wasn't that Peter whom Paul confronted and rebuked in front of all the others about being a hypocrite, when the men FROM James' group came to join them, Peter got up leaving the Genitle Christians and joined the Jewish Chirstians from James' group? Galatians chapter 2:11-14...

Check it out, I'm sure you just missed typed the names...:glow:

I often wonder if James was the first oldest half-brother of Jesus after His birth, or the baby of the children, becaue the bibl does tells us that his borthers didn't believe in Jesus but the Bible doesn't tells us where James is in the birth ranks of Jesus' half brothers and sisters, so I guess I will have to wait and see when I get to heaven:yay:
