1. Communion with God. When believers pray we are to share our hearts and cares with God.
2. Adoration to God. We are to show great love, give praise and worship to God, and toward God.
3. Thanksgiving is given to God. Our prayers should include thanks to God for all He has done, all that He is doing, and for all He is going to do in our lives.
4. Confession of sins. When we pray our prayer should include sincere confession of our sins and repentance of our sins, and seek His cleansing power of forgivenness of our sins.
5. Intercession for help. Our prayer should include interceeding on behalf of people all over the world for healing, deliverance, and the lost unto salvation.
Prayer is not for God's benefit, it is for our benefit. God commands us to always pray wihtout ceasing, it is our tool to stay connected with Him.
The effective fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. Our prayers go where we cannot go in the physical, and accomplishes what we cannot in the spiritual.
And this is the confidence that we have in God, that if we ask anything according to His perfect will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. Prayer is a tool that get us guick access before the throne of God when we come boldy without doubting.
POIC, I would like to know what and whose Bible you are you reading and studying from that allows you to speak with such suthority against what is written in the Holy Bible? And where does your biblical knowledge come from because it is not from God. What I have posted sweetheart is scripture from the mouth of God written thorughout the Word of God's truth, so why are you denying and contradicting what is already written in His word out of His mouth.
I don't think you are reading with understanding if you deny what God has said in His Word. I would like to know your understanding of the prayer which is known as the Lord's Prayer or the Disciples Pary in Matthew chapter 6, or have you even red this chapter? Does not the Bible says to ask, and it shall be given, seek, and you shall find, knock and the door will be opebn to you? Does not Jeus teach that you have not because you ask not, and when you do you ask with the wrong motives? Does not Jesu teach that when you pray believe that you will receive whatsoever you ask, if you don't doubt? Maybe you can explain what these passages are all about for me...
George opinion's have no power, stick to what the word of God teaches there are some on the forum that can help you, if you are willing.
Jn 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
JN 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Notice George who asks, Who receives.
Mr 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Mr 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
I understand EXACTLY what PassedOver is saying! Who on this forum can teach him, P.J. ? That's why we have the Holy Spirit (to teach us). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ et, teach something? LOL LOL
Thanks 2sparrow, but hwat you must understand that prayer is not for God's benefit, it is for our benefit, because God doesn't need our prayers, we need God to hear our prayers, This is a tool He has establish for us to stay connected with Him and to come before Him even though He already knowns our needs, we still are to come before Him in humility with our requests.
Yes, God loves when He hears His children praying and giving Him glory and praise in our prayers, but He can make it woitout our pryers, but we can't make it without praying. This is why prayer is not for His ebenfit because He doesn' t have need for anything, we do. This is why He exhorts us to ask of Him and pray.
As Jesue says in Matthew chapter 18, If two of you agree on earth CONCERN ANYTHING that THEY ASK, IT WILL be done for them by My Father in heaven."
And why does He say this, because there is much power in prayer when two or more people are praying before God and agreeing on the same thing, and this moves the hand of God to get in a hurry to act.
I can bet that I've been teaching on prayer longer than POIC has been a christian, and I know what I'm talin 'bout when it comes to prayer.:rocknroll:
Maybe this is why your prayers are not being answered, you praying by, or in faith and you're not asking according to God's will because you don't even know how to pray askign for those thiings you have need of...
The Bible teaches us that we don;t know how to pray or what to say, but the Holy Spirit is the one who takes our prayers and prepare them properly to go before God. Our job is to pray the best we know how and put our petitions before God of the things we require of Him.
Paul teaches us in Philippians chapter 3, Be anxious for NOTHING, but in everything by prayer and supplication (means sincere pleas) with tahnksgiving (tahkning God before you get an answer) LET YOUR REQUEST BE MADE KNOW TO GOD." ... and Paul goes on to say, after you have made your request made known to God... And the PEACE which surpasses all
this posted before I had finished... and way after you have made your prayer request known to God, Paul says, And the PEACE of God which syrpasses ALL understanding will guard your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus. Jesus teaches us to always pray and make our prayer request known, and when we are in obedinece to His word, God will answer.
