I m having trouble studying the word. For one, I am not sure where to begin and how to start studying. Its easy to be with another person but that is hard for me to find. any suggestions? thanks!
Rbk, A good way is a structured Bible Study group. It has always amazed me how God meets me with the appropriate study at the right time when it is all structured ahead of time.
There are Non denominational bible studies world wide in almost every city called BSF, ( Bible Study Fellowship ) They seperate the men and women which I found to be a very good thing. You have weekly homework and it lasts for 5 years before repeating itself....you should google it and check it out.
I would be a little leafy of denominational Bible studies as they may have a agenda to push.
Another good way is to "Seek Out Answers". Surely you have unanswered questions about a topic. Get yourself a study Bible and go in the back in the in topical index and concordance and read everything the Bible days on a topic. You can do the same thing with people; reading everything the Bible says about a person. I think you would enjoy reading the Book of Esther.
Lastly but most importantly always before you read ask God to guide you by His Holy Spirit into all truth as He has promised! I won't tell you where that is written so you can have the fun of seeking it out for yourself!

Firstly, I would like to know if you are member of a local church body, do you have a church family? If so, does your pastor hold weekly Bible Study classes or Sunday School classes? I ask this, because if you are a regular member of a local church family, then I would recommend that you get involved with the Bible Study and Sunday School classes offered at your church under your pastor or overseerer.
I don't know of too many churches in any community that don't hold regular weekly Bible Study and Sunday School classes... whatever city you are a resident of, there are great weekly bible study classes going on all over the city at these churches in your community. Many churches also have young adult single Bible Study classes, go in search in your community for them, and if you have a church home you should GET INVOLVED with their Bible Study ministry.
This is the best advice to offer you, to get invloved in your own church or a church in your community. Surely, you have firends who attend Bible Study classes at their church soemwhere in the community...
Secondly, if you're just wanting to study on your own, again it still leads back to your own church, and taking it from there even if you are not a member of a church you still can attend any church for Bible Study and Sundat School classes.
As for where to start studying in your Bible, For new Christian converts, it is always recommended that you start reading the book of John, and get an understanding of many spiritual concepts and come into a closer connection with your faith and the understanding of the Holy Spirit and the deity of Jesus Christ, This is why in evengelism we recommend new convert to start with the Gospel of John, and after that God will led you to startng reading the other gospels.
Hope this helps... after you have taken your time to just start reading, not studying, but just reading through the book of John many thngs you might have questions about concerning Jesus will be made clear. Jjust don't try to put think together for yourself, first read and leave things along for a while and everything will all fall into place, God will reval Himself to you through the Holy Spirit.
thank you ella and 2 sparrows. Your responses helped me alot :)
The thing is, My church has bible study but I cant attend due to work. the sunday school is early and I work 12hr shifts so its hard for me to be fully aware.
Twosparrows----I will go on that website to see if I can find a Bible study group. I like the idea of homework because it will help me retain what I read/studied
You'll be just fine sweetheart... just hang in there and God will open the doors for you, just start reading.:glow:
Also, you know there are churches that have Bible study classes during the day hours or on Saturdays, so they are not only on Wednesday or Thurday nights.
Check out a few churches in your area or ask your pastor even for his study lessons, I'm sure he will be more than happy to give to you.:glow:
