A young modern Christian once asked a old wrinkled gray haired Saint :

"I hear there is a deeper, more abundant life to be had with God and most Christians never even know about it. You must know; is this true?

The old Saint replied "yes"

The young Christian asked, "Is it some kind of secret? "

The old saint replied, "no"

"Then why don't I know it?" asked the young Christian.

The old saint said "Most everyone knows, but nowadays they don't like to talk about it much, they kinda pretend they don't know because the price is more than they are willing to pay"

"What is it? If it is for real I'll pay any price! Please tell me!" exclaimed the young Christian eager for some new spiritual truth to latch on to and share with others.

The old Saint replied "It is the crucified life"

"Huh? What is that" asked the young Christian.

The old Saint explained "It is simply three things; When a person is crucified they face only one direction, they cannot turn around to see what is going on behind them; they have stopped looking back.

Secondly the one being crucified knows there is no going back, they have said their goodbyes this is it, there is no where else to go, and certainly no going back. And lastly; The one being crucified has no future plans. Some one else made their plans for them when they nailed them up there and all their plans have disappeared."

The young Christian was speechless,

The old Saint noticed the astonished look on the young Christian's face and asked; "What wrong, is the price to high?"

Aye, following Jesus means giving up (or at least being willing to give up) everything.

We read the parable of the rich young man without realising how much it applies to us personally.

Great post, Two. If only we all constantly lived a truly crucified life and never ever looked back! Personally, I struggle with the looking back part at times. But I know for a fact that I will never Go back. I Love HIM too much!

Oh - I like this. Thanks!

Reminds me of ....... hmmmm... was it a song? Or a story? Can't remember. But it went like this:

A man walked to work every day, and his journey took him past a monestary. Every day he would walk by the high walls and imagine all the great, wonderful, SPIRITUAL things going on in there. How wonderful it must be, he thought, to be so close and in tune with God and be so holy.

One day, he was surprised to see the gate open, and a monk was standing inside. He stopped and glimpsed the simple buildings and gardens, and then asked the monk: "Oh - please tell me. What is it like to be living in such a great, wonderful place where you are so close to and in tune with God?!" The monk looked at him steadily and replied, "Every day, we fall down, and we get back up."

The moral being: even those who are separated and live a life that is supposed to be so close to God and so holy..... fail and fall and sin and stumble. But they get back up and keep trying.

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

In the mind of GOD,this is already a finished deal.

For me the pain, and struggle of this life, and body ,make me desire the New Creation.

Aloha
