SEVENTH DAY OF REST
Posted : 8 Dec, 2025 07:58 AM

One thing mentioned in the Bible is "rest".

God created the world in six days and on the seventh day, he rested.

So, also, we are to rest.

Shabbat, or the Jewish Sabbath, is a day of rest and spiritual enrichment observed from Friday evening to Saturday evening, commemorating God's creation.

The Jewish people teach that the Day of Rest is from Friday sunset to Saturday nightfall.

What is to be THE HOLIEST DAY OF THE WEEK is often "the most sinful" for others who do not keep the Sabbath day.

The 7th Day Adventists teach the Seventh Day of Rest.

No where in the Bible does it command otherwise.

Some religions are right about somethings and wrong about others.

So, I think the 7th Day Adventists got it right in part about the Seventh Day. While other Christian faiths get it wrong about the Day of Rest.

We can't be right on everything.

But from creation of the world to the present day, how can we be sure which day is the seventh day?

People lose count. I often forget which day of the week it is.

God only knows with certainty.

People are often wrong. And on one side of the world, it is daytime and on the other side of the world, it is night time.

God only gets it right.

A dictionary says:

Shabbat (Hebrew: שַׁבָּת) is the Jewish day of rest, celebrated on the seventh day of the week, from just before sunset on Friday until nightfall on Saturday. It is a time for spiritual reflection, family gatherings, and abstaining from work, allowing individuals to focus on rest and worship. The term "Shabbat" derives from the Hebrew root meaning "to cease" or "to rest".

In the Old Testament, one thing punishable by death was working on the Sabbath.

In the New Testament, we are to enter a Sabbath Day of rest.

The disobedient do not enter that rest.

Hebrews 3 and Hebrews 4 speak of entering God's rest.

Worship God any and every day of the week you like. But the Seventh Day of Rest has not changed.

Meet with other Christians any day of the week you like. But the Day of Rest has not changed.

I often think that Christians like to do everything opposite of the Jews.

The Bible speaks of a 7th Day of Rest, but we observe the First Day, Sunday as the Day of Rest. That is like God rested The First Day.

The Jewish People celebrate THE PASSOVER; while Christians celebrate EASTER which is hardly Christian at all by its name.

The Bible says that Jesus is "the sacrificed lamb that was slain." But when remember the event of Jesus death and resurrection, we eat pig on easter. Jesus is not the Sacrificed Ham. Jesus cast demons into pigs. To eat pig is not kosher.

Point being, the Christianity is often the opposite of what is taught in the Bible.

Some just want to poison the body of Christ.

Some are here to do nothing other than that.

1 Corinthians 14:34 is just one of many scriptures that women who claim to be Christian ignore. Ignoring scriptures may work for ignorant simpy Christian men. But for those like us with a backbone we will call out the hypocritical women. Of course they always try to fight back by calling names and using shaming tactics. Some even put out a stench that can be smelled around the world. But speaking for myself, I will never stop pointing out their disingenuous nature no matter what they try to do or the stench they produce.

Now I know why they had "MEN ONLY" CLUBS in the past and MEN'S BIBLE STUDY groups. Women can be disruptive. Good to separate the genders.

Yes women do tend to ruin things for men and they even ruin things for themselves and other women. Not unlike what some of them tried to do in the "ask a girl" forum where they attempted to turn it into a bash all men all the time forum by not allowing men to stick up for themselves. But I wasn't having any of that garbage so I put the kibosh to it.

You can be sure when the stench rears her ugly odor I will be there to put it in it's place.

Thanks HC for posting some of the historic support of the New Testament Sunday Lord’s Day when NT met to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection.

W&T, I would like to see your defense of false teacher and false prophet Ellen G White’s 7th Day Adventist doctrine. All you’ve done so far is to validate by declaration Ellen G White’s false theology. Merely declaring something to be so is not the same as providing a rational explanation

People are right about somethings and wrong about other things.

God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. Has that changed?

God commanded Ihe Israelites to "Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it HOLY." Has that changed?

Yes, the New Testament mentions people getting together on the first day of the week. Does that replace the Seventh Day of Rest? Is suddenly the fourth commandment of no effect? Is it suddenly that we are not to remember that God rested on the Seventh Day? Has the first day replaced the seventh day? Are we now to say, "In the Beginning, God rested the first day? But the Catholic church has mass both on Saturday and Sunday. I wonder if that began for Jewish converts. Worship God any and every day of the week, but in the Bible, the Jewish sabbath is the seventh day. Just because someone knows that doesn't mean they don't sin in other ways. Some are better at that - following the Bible on that point, but they fail on other points. "Let he that is without sin be first to cast a stone." Go ahead and heal on the Sabbath.
