Acts and the Gift of the Holy Spirit:
Posted : 13 Jul, 2010 04:58 PM

In Jo 20:21 Jesus breathed on his disciples and said to receive the Holy Spirit, after that occasion he instructed to go into the City and wait.

Acts Ch 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

If you will notice in all of the Gospels It was said of Jesus that he would Baptize believers with the Holy Spirit and Fire.

He had said to them in verse four of ch 1 wait for the promise of the father, which you have heard of me, we know he was talking of the Holy Spirit, or the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

Verse 8 ,notice he mentions it is the Holy Spirit, and he tell's them why, to receive power, that they may be a witness unto him.

The number in the upper room was 120, and they where all in one accord in prayer.

In Acts: 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This is not the new birth they where already born again, but it is as it was in Jesus ministry an additional impartation of the Holy Spirit for power to be a witness unto Jesus.

The Spirit came upon not within

He came on all

As all received the Gift of the Holy spirit.

All spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:7 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Peter tells us what the promise of the father is, The Holy Spirit, it is the will of the father the Holy Spirit is to be poured out on all .

Now many want to argue this is the Gift of tongues, this is not the Gift of tongues it is refereed to as the Gift of The holy Spirit and when they received him all spoke in other tongues, as they where filled.

When a believe receives the Holy Spirit as in acts ch 2:4, you can pray in tongues any time you want to.

We will go to acts 10:44 and in this context we see this happening to the gentile believers and notice what the apostles say about it.

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

The Holy Spirit again Fell on all of them.

They said this was the Gift of the Holy Spirit

Because they heard them speak with tongues.

In explaining the occasion to the Jewish brethren Peter Said:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

Again we see baptized with the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is again refereed to as the gift

How about the prophets Elijah confronted on the mountaintop who couldn't get their god to start their fire? How did they end up?

Then there are all the false prophets that wre killed every time Judah had a righteous king.

Notice in all these cases the thousands led to their deaths by believing them.

The question is where is the Scripture everything must come to pass?

Based on your statement should not Kim Clement.

As for as what the sister posted everything he said agrees with Scripture, and I don't Scripture is false?

To PJ:

PJ; I do not have time at this moment to break down all of the dribble that was posted about Kim clement,I will do that later, sentence by sentence if necessary.

Just one thing right now.

The Holy Spirit is The Spirit of Truth,Nowhere is HE called the Spirit of Baptism,or the Spirit of Fire.

Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Joh 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

Joh 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Joh 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

Joh 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

Joh 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Joh 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Joh 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Joh 16:16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

Notice this Word of GOD which was written by Jonh the Apostle, and Empowered by the Holy Spirit to write.

In verses 13-14 The Holy Spirit does not bring attention to Himself, rather The Holy Spirit brings attention to Yeshua/Jesus.

Verse 14,The Holy Spirit Glorifies Yeshua/Jesus.

Almost everything posted was about the Holy Spirit.

One other thing,WHAT was Kim Clement claiming to be releasing,The Holy Spirit?

PJ,Please ask the Lord for discernment,in these last days we need discernment.

Remember, any time someone says,THE SPIRIT OF GOD SAYS,Look into the Scriptures to see if the Spirit of gOD actually said what is being spoken.

There are many false teachers and false prophets today, all of this was foretold by Yeshua.

Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

2Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2Pe 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

2Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1Jn 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

PJ,test and try Kim clements words against the Word of GOD,tell me what you believe Kim is saying.

Then tell me what the Word of the LORD says about Kim Clements so-called prophesy.

He said exactly what the word says, you do not agree with the baptizm. This is exactly what Ghost this post is about the Gift of the Holy Ghost, baptizm with the Holy Ghost, same thing.

I know all those scriptures you mentioned and I agree with them just as I agree withe Gift of Holy Ghost.

Did the Spirit of God ever manifest as fire?

George I know the Spirit of truth he and the lord Jesus are the ones that led me to theses scriptures.

He will do it for anyone that wants to know truth.

I have been reading this post and have come to two conclusions. !st if you do not believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues it will never happen for you and with that belief you will still make it to heaven. Having Jesus as your lord gives you that tickets.

2nd conclusion if you believe in the baptism the Holy Spirit with the evidence than you will will speak in tongues.

I find it interesting that both hold to their belief and both feel they are right. Are not both going to heaven? Is it worth the fight or name calling or the put downs. We are all in the family of God. Jesus is our lord

I have seen this argument for years and both are strong in what they believe. This is a fight that should never be happening. It is not a life and hell thing. It is not what will separate you from God. Each group will make it to haven. Or do you both believe that only your side will.

In Mark 16:15 Jesus is talking and he says

15) Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17) And these signs shall follow them that believe: in my name shall they cast out devils: they shall speak in new tongues.

No where in the word of God does it say that if you speak in tongues or do not speak in tongues is that you guarantee of going to heaven.

You are saved by the blood of Jesus and you accepting him as your Lord. Speaking in tongues is not what gets you to heaven. Not speaking in tongues is not your guarantee of heaven. Jesus is the only way to get there.

In verse 17 of Mark it says these signs shall follow them that believe. It does not say these signs will follow a believer it say it will follow if you believe it. If you do not believe it will follow you, than it will not.

So than why all the attacks against your brothers and sisters. If you believe in speaking in tongues you will, if you do not you will not, but both are still Christian and both are part of the family of God.

Both sides love God, both want to further the Gospel, both want to bring the gospel to the lost and dying generation.

To Ron T:

Sometimes we can be to close to the forest to see the trees:

Or there could be tress in my eyes, while trying to see the speck of sawdust in the eye of another.

PJ:

Please do not answer to Ron T:

Enough has been said about the gifts,Lets trust the Lord that He will continue to reveal Himself to ourselves and to others.

Move on to another topic, remember Christians might be the only ones which kill their wounded.

I believe just as the man said George, it will be to each as they believe, as far as any trying to harm that is not greater harm to the body of Christ, than those saying there are Christians, not believing what Jesus had to say on any subject, and most never acknowledged the post, just their opinions and learned tradition

A little bit more of what I know,May God give the understanding. The bible was orginally in all capitals.I believe they were called uncels then later translated into a writing called curseves. When the King James was translated from the Stephens text the translaters put the punchation were they thought it should go but in the orginal there was no punchtion. As far as people saying that speaking in tongues has vanished then knowledge must have vanished also if you read the rest of that verse:And if knowledge has vanished then you wouldnt know that tongues had vanished:laugh: As far as tongues of fire,That was phenomana which is up to God wither he gives it or not.It is not guareented that everytime someone speaks in tongues that there will be fire from heaven,Gods prorogative. If a man wants to be ignorinte then.......God Bless,You are Gods Best.
