What is the purpose of this thread?

Hi everyone

I just want to clarify what I think this thread is for.I would welcome everyones veiws.I beleive this thread is for discussing theological issues and to intelligently and civilly debate points that we disagree on.

It is not for someone to just come on and tell everyone else their wrong, obviouslly we know people have differences of opinion and theology,we should be able to make our points logically, without emotion.

Also Im kind of tired of the,why cant we all just get along thing.I dont hate people who disagree with me,but I will state my beleifs(and back them up with scripture, articles from wiser men than I.

If someone doesnt like discussing theology there are many other threads,I happen to love it,I find deep theological issues to be intoxicating!

Oh well,just some thoughts

In Christ

steve

P.S.we can respect each other, and even love each other and have meaningful, grownup debates.

Mark, you're beginning to sound like PJ, confused and trying to make scripture fit your point of view:ROFL:

You didn't tell the whole story, Jesus does say many will come to him and say Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, and didn't heal in your name, and didn't we build great buildings in your name, and didn't we cast out demons in your name, and many great things in your name. And the Lord will say, I NEVER knew you... Jesus say I NEVER, not that He once knew them but He NEVER knew you, depart from me you that work iniquity, ecause their hearts were not about the things of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ, but were about their own popularity and importance...show.

So what is Jesus saying, these are they as I started who had a FORM OF GODLINESS, but the real things of the Lord were not in their hearts. We are told that we will know the true believers by their fruits, their christian behavior, conduct, love, and character in Christ, their spiritual walk outside the doors and behind close doors. in the church and in the home and community. So we can judge whether or not a person is truly born again or not, by these things. True believers are not some-timey christians, oras I call them fair-weather christians, only are nice when it feels good to them and when people are watching.

As to the comparison of saved always saved with love... True Love never fails, no matter what happens in a marriage, but INFATUATION DOES and will fall by the wayside when things don't go the way the person preceive things should go.

Being born again is a totaly commitment, but to have a form of godliness is to play the part/role without commitment, and this plays out when something else popular comes along that sound better. This is why many who have a form of godliness, change religions and most end up in cultic religions. They are not sold out of Jesus Christ and they are tossed to and fro with the fade of religion.

There is THEREFORE NOW NO CONDEMNATION for those(believers who are truly born again) who are IN CHRIST JESUS, who DO NOT WALK ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, BUT ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT....

Why si this?... because the beiever has the grace to go before God and repent of our sins... and turn from our wicked ways and be received.

Just because your child disobeys, that doesn't give cause for you to disown him/her as your child, does it? Will this child loses the use of your surname, and you cast him/her out of the family? NO! Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are IN Christ Jesus.:applause::glow:

Ok, then you're right. A truly saved person cannot be lost. But I don't think we can know...and trying to "know" puts out a lot of "salvation judging", of yourself and others...and that causes a lot of unnecessary divisions. Instead of saying "keep walking" we say "heretic! you're lost!".

Yes all that is true Ella, but it is all by faith as the word declares, and Just as a man accepts that faith he can reject it.

There is also a condition to that scripture Ella, and it is to those that walk after the spirit.

We are in a covenant, involving two parties, God is faithful always to his part of the covenant

Mam also his his part, or responsibility: Hebrews makes it real clear that it is possible to not be granted repentance.

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Notice the whole context.

I am in no fear of losing salvation, nor should any believer be, but all need to know not to stray, or seduced by Satan.

You're right PJ, in quoting Hebrews chapter 6,verses4-6, and I hope you understand that this is speaking about a SAVED PERSON if he/she should fall or walk away from Christ after they have experienced the blessings of the Lord.

True born again believers are secure in their salvation IF they continue to be gorunded and root in the word of God and stand upon His promises which is in verses 17-19: Thus God, determined to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, WE MIGHT HAVE STRONG CONSOLATION, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the HOPE that is set before us.

This HOPE we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the PRESENCE behind the viel, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus having become HIGH PRIEST forever according to the order of Melchizsdek.

Our security also lies within our nature of a new life God has given to ALL believers. We are SAVED, or we have been SAVED, or we are being SAVED, and we SATND SAVED IN JESUS CHRIST.

Of course, there must be faith to start with BEFORE anyone can be saved (born again), so that is not is not even up for discussion.
