Prophetic, God is our reward. As such, I'm just going to sit back and assume He will take care of the fine details. I don't need to argue with anybody about it, because right or wrong, what I think is not likely going to change the end result.
Faith isn't meant to be a scary thing. We don't need to have all the answers. We just need to keep searching in the direction that God sends us. If we get something wrong in the process, God is still with us. When we figure it out, we regroup, and back at it.
When arguing doctrine, it's always good to consider, "What if I'm wrong?" Additionally, always make what we all generally agree on to be the focal point(s). We have salvation through Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose from the tome after 3 days. If we know nothing else for sure, that is enough.

There is a reason this is possible. It's because God seeks us. He draws us to Him. He gives us truth. He gives us knowledge. We all have NOTHING except for what comes from the Hand of God.

First, I'm not at war with you or David. I'm here to study and learn, hopefully as the next guy. I don't have a battle to fight, because the most important battle is already won. However, I am here to discuss things and willing to listen and share.
I think you both make points, but you not willing to harmonize the two different things you are referring to. Some things are rewarded and some things are gifted.
Here are my thoughts on this:
1. The ultimate reward is salvation and it's actually a gift. What we do to earn it is come to repentance and confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. There is no other specific action that must extend beyond that as a sincere action on our part.
2. We can bear fruit, but that is our function. If you were an apple tree, you would be expected to bear apples. If you had dead limbs, those would need to be removed, so you could be healthier to bear good apples. Such as we are. When you bear fruit, that is your function as a Christian and a Child of God.
3. Yes, we can "gain" more. Just as the unfaithful servant buried his talents, and lost everything, while the two faithful gained multiples, including the share the unfaithful started with.
4. As far as I know, our "rewards" are the five crowns. Each is received for a specific purpose.
The Incorruptible Crown -
1 Cor 9:24-25 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
The Crown of Rejoicing
1 Thess 2:19-20 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For ye are our glory and joy.
The Crown of Righteousness
2 Tim 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
The Crown of Life

I actually agree with you, but not everything is reward. Salvation is a gift. We receive it through faith in Christ. What we do after is the icing on the cake, but no matter if we are the first or last through the gates of Heaven, I can't imagine any of us will feel disappointed. I imagine it will be amazing for all of us.
Matt 19:28-30 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
The part where we disconnect is running in circles with David about everything. I have no doubt that David studies and tries to stay grounded in the Word, and I believe the same to be true of you. But in all of it, somehow two people who should be looking at each other as "Brothers" are somehow using scripture to taunt each other. Why not agree to disagree? You are part of the same kingdom, and I believe it was eloquently stated in scripture that a kingdom divided against itself can not stand. So why not choose to be pillars?
