ET asks, if the saints of old did't go to heaven, where did they go when they died?
Eccl 12 vs 7 : the spirit will retun to God who gave it.
It's not a conscious spirit, the bible many many times refers to death as sleep.
David said I will go to him (speaking of his daea baby)but he will not return to me. The baby's body was laying in a morgue so to speak. Once you are dead you ain't coming back.
Do we go to heaven to be with God? Never!
Finish this scripture : The meek shall inherit the ________?
Rev 21 vs 2 : Then I John saw th Holy city , New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God
vs 3 : And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying , Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, AND HE WILL DWELL WITH THEM
Get it? He will dwell with us , not us with Him. The city comes down from heaven.
Rev 20 vs 5 : But the rest of the dead did not live again until the 1000 years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
21 : blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection . Over such THE 2ND DEATH HAS NO POWER.
The first death is like sleep, unconscious until God brings it back or awakes it. There is no awakening from the 2nd death, it is eternal punishment where there is outer darkness.
I guess I interpret scripture literally. When the bible says they did not live again, I believe that to mean, they did not live again. I see the vanity in my posts, Good lesson for me.

I just posted scripture that says, Literally, Elijah was taken to heaven and you perform a poor dance routine trying to get around it. He went to where the birds live? Then what happened next? God killed Elijah with a lightning bolt, or perhaps a stray shooting star? And then he was dead and slept in the earth like everyone else? And of course it had to be a fake vision from God when Moses and Elijah was talking to Jesus, cause Elijah was dead. And when Jesus said : 'God is the God of the living, not the dead', I am curious how you "literally" interpret this scripture? And Paul said he or someonelse was caught up to the third heaven (no birds there!) and you literal answer focus on if it was body or spirit? Just another poor dance routine, deflecting the obvious answer.
Sorry Hilltop, you kinda got me on a roll when you claim literal interpretation but in reality use it only when it it makes Scripture say what you want it to.
The word translated heaven in the book of 2 Kings comes from the Hebrew word shayayim, Strong' s number 8064 and means to be lofty, sky.
Also, in II Chron 21 vs 12 - 15 : Elijah writes a letter that is approximately ten years after he was taken up by a whirlwind. How could he write a letter if he was in heaven.
Jesus said, no man has gone to heaven except Him. John 3 vs 13.
Where have I called you a name? I haven't called you a name, however I am about ready to. I think the proper name would be "twister"....
.....twister of the truth
I'll look up the word, I find it interesting you say it "comes from" instead of 'means', I am assuming just another way to twist things to your personal paradigm.
However since you have resorted to calling people names (mister name caller) who have given you the very things you asked for, I think I will opt out on further discussion, thank you.
