1st Jn1:Ps 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Ps 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Some many times as you will see on these post, as those endeavor to proclaim their doctrines of men, you can easily detect the error, for it does not agree with the entirety of scripture.

Such as Total depravity

Total inability

Irresistible Grace

For instance Romans Ch 9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

In finding the will of God on any matter we have to Consider context always.

If you desire to Find the will of God to mankind on the topic of mercy all you have to do is get a concordance, and find scriptures that will include all of mankind, concerning the will of God concerning the mercy of God.

Walk in the light of the word of God, not the word of man

Presby,

Again, in your last post, you imply that I am not a Calvinist because I have not studied the scriptures. You do not see that as prideful? Perhaps I could say you are a Calvinist because you have not studied the scriptures. Doesn't that sound prideful?.....Oh, but wait, what if it is true? Then it is not prideful...right?

When you want to discuss scripture as fellow Christians and not Guardian of the one true pure Gospel to a ignorant, unstudied, heretic, let me know.

What is being called Calvinism is the doctrine preached by Paul in the first century, Augustine in the second, and on until today. People have been killed in the name of Christianity since the time of Jesus, to blame Calvinism is a little deceptive, don't you think? Free will/Armenianism came about in the early 17th century and had few followers. It was resurrected by Wesley in the 19th century and denounced again as heresy by everyone except Darby, the pre-trib rapture guy. From these two combined doctrines came the Charismatic Movement of the 20th century. So basically, anything prior to the 20th century could be blamed on Calvinism if you use that logic.

The post is about walking in the light of God's word, Calvinism and the word of God are in direct opposition to one another, So the answer is to get our eyes on Jesus and allow him to enlighten us according to the word of God, it is impossible to know the schemes of our enemy, if we do not come into agreement with the word of God.

Well, since you're starting a new forum, I'd just like to respond to this. I did not actually imply that if you are not a Calvinist you have not studied the Scripture. It was actually an allusion to the Bereans in Acts 17:11 where they studied the Scriptures daily to see if what Paul was teaching was according to the Bible. I'm basically not asking you to take my word for it. I never called you a heretic or ignorant or unstudiied; and I am truly sorry if that was your impression because it was not my intention at all. I was simply appealing to a common authority because I do not want to be seen as the authority here. That's why I appealed to Scripture because I know we both do have the authority of Scripture. That's all I meant.

Leon,

That it quite presumptuous of you, Paul taught Calvinism? Do the math, Calvinism is teaching their interpretation of Paul. It never ceases to amaze me how so many people have the corner market on the one true truth, ie : What Paul was actually thinking and all he meant when he wrote.

Wow, pretty amazing that you don't realize you are not the only ones!
