Posted : 5 Aug, 2019 03:10 PM There is no capitalization in the Greek therefore I took all the caps out of this KJV passage: .................................................... "and he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: therefore the son of man is lord also of the sabbath."................. -Mark 2:27-28 Mark is the earliest attestation of this passage. We already know all authority in heaven and earth is given to Jesus (Matthew 28:18) so no one is saying Jesus isn't Lord of the Sabbath.............................................We also know Jesus used the phrase "Son of Man" from of Daniel 7:13 to refer to himself...................... Therefore the insertion of CAPS is an acceptable addition to the translation........................................... However in this particular case is this what the author of Mark had in mind? ............................................................ I don't think so because of the "Therefore". In other words this could read like this; 'the Sabbath was made for man (humans); Therefore the son of man (a human) is the master of it.' Post Reply

Do you want to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing **SPECIAL DAYS** and months and seasons and years. I fear for you. that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you!! Colossians 2:16,17: Do dot let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard a special festival, a New Moon celebration or a **SABBATH DAY**! These are a **SHADOW** of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found **IN CHRIST**!! In the New Testament **EVERY DAY** is the **LORD'S DAY** especially **TODAY**!! Acts 2:44-46: All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to everyone who had need. **EVERY DAY** THEY CONTINUED TO MEET IN THE TEMPLE COURTS**!! Hebrews 3:12,13: See to it brothers and sisters that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But **ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER **DAILY**, as long as it is called **TODAY** so that none of you may be hardened by sins deceitfulness! Exodus 31:14-16: Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death; those who do **ANY WORK** on that day must be **CUT OFF** from their people... Whoever does **ANY WORK** on the Sabbath day is to be **PUT TO DEATH**! Exodus 35:2,3; Whoever does **ANY WORK** on the Sabbath must be **PUT TO DEATH**. Do not **LIGHT A FIRE** in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day. Not lighting a fire to keep warm was possible in Israel since it is about the same latitude of warm South Carolina. But anyone in the frigid parts of the earth must freeze to death in the winter since electricity would not be invented until over 2,000 years after this commandment was given!! Matthew 12:1-12: Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, the said to Him, "Look your disciples are doing what is **UNLAWFUL ON THE SABBATH**. Jesus answered, "Haven't you heard of what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread--which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests... If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is **LORD OF THE SABBATH**!" Going from that place, Jesus went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to being charges against Jesus, they asked Him, "IS IT LAWFUL TO HEAL ON THE SABBATH?" Jesus said to the, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath?" Jesus said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? Therefore it is lawful to do good {*WORK*} on the Sabbath!" John 5:16-18: So because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute Him. In his defense Jesus said to them. "My Father is always at His work to this very day, and **** I TOO AM **WORKING**!" For this reason they tried all the more to kill Him; not only was **HE BREAKING THE SABBATH**, but He was even calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. John 9:16: The Pharisees said of Jesus, "This man is not from God , for He does **NOT KEEP THE SABBATH**!" Acts 1:12: Then the Apostles returned to Jerusalem from the called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk {About 7/10 tenths of a mile} from the city. I was a missionary in Israel. The 7th Day Adventists are not so strict and even drive their piston burning cars on the Sabbath when they could eliminate all the piston **FIRES** by just riding a **HORSE AND BUGGY** like the Amish. The 7th Day Adventists will even allow you special dispensation to be a good church member who pays his tithes even though you have a **JOB** on the Sabbath??? Even though the Jews and 7th Day Adventists **TRY** to keep most of the Sabbath laws about 99.9 percent of the Jews and 7th Day Adventists would be **PUT TO DEATH** according to Exodus 35:2,3 above!!
