How do you rightly divide the Word of Truth?

James 2 tells us faith without works is dead. It also says the poor of this world are rich in faith. Why would the poor be rich in faith? Is it because the poor have to work hard just to live, (works)? Are hard working poor people living by faith? Maybe; the poor generally work at hard labor. But this goes without saying. It is one of those truths we hold to be self evident? Do we really need to use scripture to construct a teaching that says the poor have to work?

The theme of James 2 is indeed a contrast of rich and poor. The haves and the have nots by today's label. My first thought would be that rich people do not have to rely on God being their provider as much as the poor. Therefore the poor need more faith just to get by. But digging deeper, it would be good to have clear understanding of what "Works" really means. To rightly understand God's Word we need to dig deeper. Like the wise man who built his house upon the rock. We need to build upon that solid Rock which is Christ.

Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life"

John 6:27a.

Well, "MrRow"....in the very last days God says He will call His people out of confusion and into His remnant people. So technically, you should have the opposite view and be listening for God's call. The older the church, the less truth it's going to have in my opinion. Like my church right now. We've only been around like....150 years....and already a lot of people are slipping and trying to change the foundational beliefs of my church. So what about a church that is 1500 years old? 1000? Is it going to be better or worse? How about the Israelites? Did they get better or worse over time? How about politics? Do nations get better or worse over time? Unfortunately, we humans are exceedingly sinful and proud, and unfortunately, Satan is running around deceiving people. Anyway. Keep the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus. That's how you'll know you're on the right path. Just keep listening.

One of the early church fathers said, nothing new is true, and nothing true is new.

I don't remember if this was Polycarp or Josephus, but I think it was one of them.

Food for thought,

Leon

I think it was Solomon,

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

"What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.

Is there a thing of which it is said, "See, this is new"? It has been already in the ages before us."

But at the same time we consider what Daniel said of "end times." Or indeed If we are in end times. We are in the information age and everyone is so busy or too busy, And God gave a Word that is sealed till the end.

"Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.

...8 Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, My lord, what shall be the end of these things?

9 And he said, Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end." (Daniel 12:4,8-9).

IMHO, We are all watching and waiting and what may seem to us to be a new thing may really just be something God spoke into being long ago but has yet to be reviled in us.

To God nothing is new because He knows all. But for man, and especially baby Christians, everyday is a new thing. We should not take the attitude that we know it all.

From our own human perception everyday with Jesus is newer than the day before.

It's ok, don't answer the questions. The bottom line is you cannot substantiate your comments.

Rapio,

Please see previous page. I also used a civil tone and expect the same if you wish to converse with me.

Blessings,

klmartin,

A civil tone does not hide the biased opinions and traps you set. If you wish to converse with me any further try answering the questions you were asked. It is obvious that you wont because you have ensared yourself with your own words. Your comments shift from one post to another. Build your theology and teaching on sandy soil and you get an unstable foundation.

BTW, I've been to bible college too and have a solid foundation of bible education that I am not ashamed of.
