GlendoraMike View Profile History	TONGUES Posted : 10 Jul, 2010 01:51 PM JUST IN FROM ANOTHER THREAD: TONGUES In reading the Book of Acts, I see that Peter wasn't part of the groups that spoke in tongues. Peter had a better gift of knowing what was happening and explaining it and harvesting a crop of new believers. Looking at Paul's writings, it is obvious that not all Christians should be speaking in tongues. They should pray to receive the greater gifts. I think one of the greatest gifts is of those who no matter where they go they wind up helping someone accept Christ. Here is something that most folks don't know. Among the Hindu followers, there is speaking in tongues. Years ago, I met a woman (1st date) and I knew by her church that speaking in tongues was a big item. I told her that I had a problem with the teaching people how to speak in tongues. Doesn't the Holy Spirit know how to just give it? She replied that she really didn't teach them but instead let them watch and listen so that they got the idea. Funny thing is; it doesn't sound like a language. There is too much rhyming and too much repeating of words. The worst case was a pastor saying, "To drink,......to drink, to drink, to drink. To drink!" I have even run across folks who claim that God can't hear prayers that are not in tongues. No body gets saved I guess. OKAY! View Profile History	TONGUES Posted : 12 Jul, 2010 11:55 AM For some reason, you all seem to be referring to the gift of tongues, the post mentions speaking in tongues, obviously two different topics, and the author has also mentioned, there was other believers born again in the bible and they did not speak in tongues. View Profile History	TONGUES Posted : 12 Jul, 2010 12:56 PM Friends, I wish to add to my earlier post. i have attended several pentecostal churches and they never have abused the the gift of speaking in tongues. In matter of fact a woman who visited my church was told to stop because she was abusing it. Know what you are talking about before you speak, please. As I do follow the rules of biblical rules made by Paul. Every pentecostal church I have gone too also followed those same rules. No my church does not do . View Profile History	TONGUES Posted : 12 Jul, 2010 01:34 PM my point is only based on the based on the word of God and the principles the word teaches us. Number one the word of God is truth. Number two christians are called to believe the word of God. There is no excuse for two christians to agree on the word of God if we approach the word of God as the truth and then by an act of our will believe, plus it is always a choice on the believer's part because the holy spirit is there to lead and guide us into all truth. I am from South America, actually Central Amercia (but border of S.A.) And that statement is partially true. We do dance in the spirit, we dance because we feel the presence of the Lord, but those who have the gift of tongues also speak it. Post Reply

Think about it, if the Spirit is not doing it, who is? The person is. If it helps you get closer to God, do it, but quit lying to yourself and saying it is biblical. Tongue(s) is a gift that is imparted to a believer at the discretion of the Holy Spirit ( 1st Cor.12:11). Because there has been so much bad teaching and misunderstanding alnog with misuse and abuse,that the American believers discredit anything about this gift,as though this gift does not exist anymore today. Because many do not have this gift,they say those claiming to speak with tongue(s) are of the devil. Yeshua warned us about such talking. Mat 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: Mat 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? Mat 12:27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. Mat 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Mat 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Mat 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Mat 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. We as believers are called to use the Scriptures as our plumb-line. If what a person says or does mathches what is within the Word of God,could that then be of the Lord. If what is said or done does not match the Word of God,then what is our responsibility to this person,or these people. We are called to be doers of the Word not just hearers only. What do we do with those calling themselves Senior Pastors,or Coaches,How about Woman calling themselves Pastor,Elders. These people themselves are in error,the word of God does not know about such things,yet we let these pass by without even flinching an eyebrow,Yet have one person attempt to use a tongue and they want to throw them out,as either Heretics of or of the enemy of mans soul. Let us get back to rightfully dividing/handling the Word, To teach,instruct,rebuke,encourage,exhort,and to proclaim the Gospel of Yeshua, The Messiah of eveyone which believe in Him for Lordship and Salvation. Remember throughout the New Covenant where we read about others speaking in a tongue or tongues; Those nearby hearing those speaking in tongue(s)heard them speak of the wonderful works of God (Acts 2:11)(Acts 10:44-45),Also to edify those hearing ( 1st Cor.14:1-10). Tongue shsould be to the benefit of others,not just always myself. Read through James about gifts and practical living. Agape' and Charis: George ps:Acts 10 :44-45 Act 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. Act 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Act 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Act 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Here the Lord used the gift of tongues to show Peter and those with him,that He the Lord had removed the wall of seperation between the Jews and Gentiles in Christ. Remember Peters NOT SO LORD. I ask you what tongue did these Hebrew men hear and recognize. How about those on the day of Pentecost. ( Acts 2 ) Post Reply
