I do about "Jacobus Arminius" and his followers 5 points. The reason no one makes a fuss about it is cause they are not following him, because probably over 90% of non-Calvinist believers don't even know who he is. Absolutely no disrespect intended ; but Calvinists are viewing this from a environment of Calvinism where 99.9% of the believers have been taught about Calvinism vs Ariminian theology. I suspect the truth is if you surveyed all those who are Not Calvinists and had them define their beliefs on the 5 points you would find the majority of them adhere to a mixture of both. The other thing to bring to light is most non-Calvinists do not even know the 5 points much less have them defined. Yet from the perspective of a Calvinist who subconsciously thinks it is a given that all believers have thought through the 5 points just as he/she has because they are paramount in "his/her" faith, is not seeing the picture clearly, especially when it comes to labeling all others as Ariminians or a 3 or 4 point Calvinist. I was raised Catholic and am not comparing Catholicism with Calvinism, but I do know what it is like to have to shed all the preconceived doctrines and interpretations of scriptures to be able to see clearly. I am not saying 5 point Calvinism is wrong. It is just people in the forum and on some web sites I found just parrot doctrines with no understanding. I am quick to recognize this only because past experience with the Catholic Church, then later with Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons. I am not saying Calvinism is a cult! Just that they tend to see things ONLY from the perspective of a Calvinist. I have asked sincerely for Scriptural Proof and get the same thing over and over like I am supposed to understand the meaning Calvinists have been taught since youth and have poured into their verse and automatically believe.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Salvation is received by faith, and faith cometh by the word of God so it is impossible to be saved from false teaching!!

PJ,

It's a good thing Saul (later Paul) didn't know that, huh?

I thought you were out of these discussions, Leon, but since you're back can you share which false teachings Saul (later Paul) was saved by?

Well Chevy, how about salvation comes by the Law? Or, that God wanted him to kill Christians? Or that Jesus was a false prophet? These things were all common beliefs of the day among the Jewish Hierarchy.

Did Saul have faith when Jesus stopped him on the Damasus road and struck him blind? I bet he did afterward! But Jesus chose him while he was in unbelief. There is no denying that fact.

So, my original statement, that PJ was referring to, stands.

Leon

"I'm out of these discussions." was what you posted last night on this thread just a few posts ago. Why did you answer my question with questions? No need to answer that cause I'm out of these discussions and I do not lie so that means I'm out of these discussions.

I don't believe the Calvinist doctrine--- all it does is cause confusion.

Leon, I'm sorry that I just don't put stock in what you say anymore.Ever since you 'came out of a fast' to put your two cents in on a topic that didn't even concern you made me start questioning your public announcements of fasting as well as other false statements you've made.

It's like you're in the market place wanting to appear to be something you're not.And I'm not buying it.

SIR JAMES,

I wish to humbly reply to your last post addressed to me. You shared :

" I find that bizarre! Of course Paul is speaking to Christians, the entire letter is to the church at Corinth."

-------------------------------------------

Why the theatrics? Yes we all know it was a letter to the church at Corinth. I should of been more concise and said "about" (not "to") believers. I should have been more careful, remembering that a drowning man will grasp the smallest twig. You are still using this verse out of context.

Btw, your Genesis and Ephesians verses about being "dead" don't fly either. Why?....because if unbelievers are 110% dead as you would have us believe, how do you explain the "second death" in Revelation?

Chevy didn't say he hated you, Leon. He simply pointed out a couple of reasons why he may question your statments.

As usual, you insulted him and turned what he said into "You hate me". :goofball:
