Free from What?

Christians often speak of free will. And even when it is not spoken, it is many times assumed. However, what is rarely stated and almost never understood is, from what exactly is the will free?

■Is the human will free from God, His infinite power, His eternal plan, His sovereign will?

■Is the human will free from sin, the effects of sin, the temptation to sin, the corruption from sin?

■Is the human will free from satan, demons and evil?

■Is the human will free from human nature, its fallen state, its weakness, its inclinations?

■Is the human will free from the laws of nature, the rules of reality, the tyranny of time?

■Is the human will free from genealogies, genetics, or gender?

■Is the human will free from its environment, its circumstances, its experiences?

■Is the human will free from coercion, persuasion or influence?

■Is the human will free from error, or illness, or impairment?

You who say, The will is free. Tell me please, free from what?

@PJ

When I was born again I felt like a new person, living a Godly life was easy and truth in the scriptures was opened up to me. But as time went on my own will began looking for some crack in my armour to exploit. It kept at it until it found a way back in. This is when the battle within began in my life. So I do understand what you are saying about still having our own will to contend with as God transforms us making us new in Him.

@ everyone:

The will of man:

The will of man is not free, not from the time he is born, nor until the time they leave this life.

Part of the decption of Ha-Satan,is that he has people believing that they have free will.

Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Does anyone choose Yeshua as a result of their FREE WILL,absolutely not.

For as man is dead in his trespasses and sins before Yeshua gives them life, and faith to trust Him to save them from the wrath and judgement of GOD.

So to is mans will bound in and to iniquity.

Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Life here is not physical, but rather spiritual life, the life of GOD.

Agape' and Charis:

St.George

ps:

To those that think they have free will, please use your FREE WILL to stop projectile vomiting,or diareaha.

Even ones bladder overrides free will.hahahahahaha

ACTUALLY THE WILL OR MAN'S WILL IS NOT THE ISSUE AND YOUR COMMENT IS IN STRIFE WITH THE WORD. THE HEART OF MAN OR MAN'S SPIRIT IS THE SOIL FOR THE WORD OF GOD. MAN'S WILL IS PART OF THE SOUL OF MAN, AND IT IS THE NEW MAN'S RESPONSABILITY TO RENEW THE MIND AND WILL AND HIS EMOTION'S TO COME TO KNOW THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD.

Trucker Shared ~ Part of the decption of Ha-Satan,is that he has people believing that they have free will.

*** Really ? I was taught the Deception is that Satan Convences people He does NOT existthere is no HellSo do as you please

Trucker Shared ~ Does anyone choose Yeshua as a result of their FREE WILL, absolutely not.

*** HummmminterestingLets dig a lil deeper here at this statement.Lets use an example that Trucker most assuredly can relate toof course I already know you will not answer these questions I will posebut non the less I will ask them anyway...for Christ Jesus* sake...

You work with Alcoholics & Addicts in Recovery right ? God called youDid you not FreelyWillingly answer that call ??? Have not the Alcoholics & Addicts you work with made a mess of their lives using their Free Will Choices ? And is it not GOD/Jesus that becomes some in recoverys Higher Power they are Seeking that Will Solve All their Problems as mentioned in the AA or Celebrate Recovery Book ??? Do not the 12 Steps & 8 Principles taken directly from the Beatitudes in the Bible an Written in simple English speak of Free Will in terms of Your / Our Will ?

Step 1 speaks of PowerlessnessStep 2 speaks of Restoring Insanityand MOST Important Notice what this Step saysStep 3 speaks Made a Decision to Turn Our Will & Our Lives Over ToThe Care Of GOD As We Understood Him ? Sooois this not a Free Will Choice..??? I believe so...

Trucker Also Shred ~ To those that think they have free will, please use your FREE WILL to stop projectile vomiting, or diareaha. Even ones bladder overrides free will.hahahahahaha

*** To You TruckerPlease Take Care in Your Free Will Choice of Wording when Verbally Spanking Those you are in Dis-Agreement withAlsoPlease take the Utmost care Especially in your Direct Dealings with People in RecoveryThis kind of Contrary Teaching could hurt them more than help themjus a lil good manna ta chomp on while yer working those StepsI Trust you will be having a Marvelous & Blessed Dayxo

@ jude:

Jude,I do not work steps.

A. A. and N.A. are not of the LORD.

I have been to many of these meetings to share the Gospel with them.

Almost every meeting where I had been asked to speak, the person which asked me to speak had turned on me,asking me to never speak again about Yeshua.

I myself had been through the Salvation Armies ARC.

This is the Adult Rehabilitation Center.

I have seen many men and woman come and go out getting wasted, yet they never wanted to hear the Gospel..

Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of GOD.

I trust that you will be having a Blessed weekend.

ps:

I do know that I have to understand that i am dealing with peoples perceptions here..

Your perception is that I was spanking people, not so,just using some examples to show that free will is not all that people make this out to be....

How about using 'Limited will' instead.

According to scripture I see:

* we are slaves...either to Jesus or sin

* that we were bought with a price

* that no one comes to the Father on their own

* the times and places we live are chosen by God

* we have been predestined

* we have been subjected to frustration

* born into sin

FREE WILL

The liberty to chose isn't free.

The choices are only two ; His will or mine.

@ TruckerMy Apologies givenI thought you were involved in Recovery Programs as your profile states you work with Alkies & AddictsYes..It is very sad that many go in & out the revolving door & never hear the Recover Programs Message of Hope or the Gospel of Christ Jesus* for it is Truth that Faith does come by Hearing the Word of GOD through the Vessel the LORD Jesus* has Chosen to Deliver that Message

@ 2SparrowsAmen ! AMEN !!!

Yall hava a GOD filled & Blessed day & know that you are Lovedxo

EXCELLENT COMMENTARY!

It is as Jeremiah stated:

"O Lord I know that the way of man is not in himself, it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." [Jer. 10:23]

If man cannot "DIRECT HIS STEPS" then how is he really free..?

Man is unceasingly and universally dependent upon the Creator, therefore,"IN HIM WE LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING!" [Acts 17:28]

"FOR OF HIM, AND THROUGH HIM, AND TO HIM, ARE ALL THINGS, TO WHOM BE GLORY FOREVER, AMEN!" [Romans 11:36]

I think that the greater questions to be posed, are:

1) "Where did these doctrines originate?"

2) "How is it possible for Christianity to be so divisive when it concerns doctrines, while the Word states: "FOR GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION, BUT OF PEACE AS IN ALL CHURCHES OF THE SAINTS!"

Did you know that there are over 32,000 denominations in Christianity today?

@pc

To answer your posed questions:

It is my personal belief that one can substitute the word 'church' (as the world sees the it) for the word ' creation' in the following verses and still have a statement of truth.

Rom 8:19-21

"The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in the hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious the glorious freedom of God"
